On the Road
I haven't completely recovered from the CBR, but I'm excited to be heading towards Kentucky. I'll leave my lovely courtesy parking site at Ride Air's in the Shenandoah Valley Monday AM and show up at Natural Bridge Tuesday sometime. Can't wait!

Steve, I've got my Volcano stove/grill/campfire with me, some mesquite, and some hickory. With a little creativity I think it could be turned into a smoker if you need it. Can you smoke with a big flower pot turned over it? Plug the hole with a rock? I've got one. Yeah, I've got a weird assortment of travel "necessities" on the road.

We'll be staying at Alumatube's house Wed and Thursday night since the campground was booked full. It's about an hour from Natural Bridge. We are debating whether or not to make a drive in on Friday.
Dacia, I don't know. You have chunks of wood we can toss directly onto the burner assembly to make smoke? We may be able to figure something out.

Road hazards
For folks heading in via I-65 in Louisville, please be VERY careful on I-65 southbound near the airport. There is one heckova [censored ] dip in the road. I hit my head on the roof of hubby's big mack daddy truck and our silverware drawer blew out of the cabinet and spewed its contents all over the place.
Some of the roads around Cincinnati and I-75/71 were kinda rough...
Please be careful folks!
Oh, and ONLY 3 days for some folks! WOO HOO!
See y'all on Friday.

I'm going grocery shopping on Thursday. I can stop at our local restaurant/food supply store.
What do we need to bring for Friday and Saturday nights? (besides our wining looks and personalities ). I know they have a killer potato salad. Any cravings or holes that need to be filled?
Plus, do you want me pick up some danish for one of the breakfasts?

We went racing this past Thursday through Sunday and had a BLAST!! Now to focus on the rally, yay!
Steve, we will bring the smoker and wood for the armadillo eggs or whatever else you would like to smoke. Digger Bear, I still am not sure what I will bring food-wise, but I will check the list and bring something appropriate.
I am SO looking forward to it! We took the 310 to the races, and it was REALLY nice to be out in it again, and will be happy to do it again this weekend.

Here's what I am bringing for coffee:
Community Coffee Medium Roast
Community Coffee Between Roast
Community Coffee "New Orleans Blend" with Chicory
and of course some Folgers.
I'll probably be hitting up Wally World in KY when I get there to get food items so they don't spoil so if there's anything else that anyone wants, let me know.
Does anyone have a large coffee pot?? If not, I can pick one up. I guess that me being the Navy Chief, I can take care of the coffee mess If I'm really nice, I'll even make it and walk it up to where everyone else is

We think that 63silver said they were bringing a large pot. If you still need one we will send one with Big Al.

After 14 years of military service I still can't stomach coffee. I love the way it smells, but the bitter taste prevents me from drinking it.
I'll stick to morning cocoa if it's cold enough, and if it's warm I'll find something else to get me going.
Anyone a fish eater? If I land any substantial sized fins on Thursday I could bring them for Friday.

Awesome. I got you covered on the coffee brewing. I've done it enough over the last decade <------ That's also how some might look after drinking my coffee.
OK just kidding on that part. Some had mentioned the Community Coffee from Louisiana, so I'll be bringing a couple of different blends with me. I've never tried the stuff myself, but hope that everyone enjoys it. I'll pick up some assorted coffee creamer as well.
I'm thinking that all of the coffee drinkers will be providing their own cups, so I'll do my part to be green and leave the Styrofoam at home.
