Crawfish boil rally?????

We camped in the cold this weekend at our favorite local state park with fellow Streamers, Wes and Peggy. Although not active on the Forums, some of you may know them from the Can Opener ( he always cooks ribs). Anyway as we were sitting around the campfire we started discussing the possibility of hosting a crawfish boil rally. Wes does several crawfish boils every year and is well known for his ability to cook VERY tasty mud bugs. So, if we can put this together, will you come???

When - March 26 and 27, 2010
Where - Wall Doxey State Park, Holly Springs, MS

This will be a normal rally format with the only difference being we will provide the crawfish and other fixins if this doesn't get too out of hand. For those of you that can't or won't eat the little bugs, a potluck would still be part of the festivities. Wall Doxey has 50/30 amp and water with about 49 heavily wooded spots for $16 per night. Other than a pretty good disc golf course and a small but pretty lake, there isn't much to do. This is not a tourist destination!

Remember, I'm testing the water at this point, so if you are interested let me know asap.

Thanks

Sorry we can't make it but you really stirred up memories. Our family always had our reunions at Wall Doxey State Park. I probably hadn't heard that name in 25 years. I grew up in Hickory Flat not far from there. I know you will all have a great time.

Brad - if we put this together and if there is anything left over, we will send you some via FedEx!!!

Richard and Linda - other than the 49 "newer" spaces in the back and the disc golf course, I doubt the park looks any different than it did 25 years ago. The cabins and office/banquet room haven't changed one bit. Still pretty rustic.

I found this as the description of the park:

Sites9 cabins, 17 tent sites, 64 RV sites (paved), 64 back-ins (57'), hook-ups (64W, 64E), 20/30/50 amps, shaded spots, dump stationFacilitiesGroup Camp accomodates 104 for summer camp retreats and family reunions; 8 individual huts sleep 13 each, meal included; banquet/catering service; restrooms, showers, laundry, security, firewood, conference/meetingRecreationNearby attractions: Marshall County museums, Strawberry Plains Audubon Society, The University of Mississippi, Rowan Oak, & Kirkwood National Golf Course; Spring Lake in the park has over 200 springs that fed this beautiful 60-acre lake. The water stays clear and cold year-round and completely replaces itself every 51 hours. There are two 20-hole disc golf courses, a disc golf pro shop, four outdoor picnic shelters; fishing, hiking trails

HiHo, thanks for the advertising piece. It makes Wall Doxey sound like a resort.

Perhaps it should say
"8 comfortably, 13 passionately"

Very little activity and already headed off topic . There will have to be a little more interest or we won't have to worry about how many passionate people crowd into 8 huts, trailers, tents or bath houses .
