What can I say other than a great Friday here at Pecan Park. A nice turn out of streamers, their friends or family, and even one cowboy hat toting son of the republic (Whitsend) who was escorted out by police for violating the restraining order I had against him....okay that was a joke (love ya big guy).

We still have another trailer another trailer set to arrive today, and I know of several other streamers/dreamers who plan to join us later today for food, fun, and fellowship.

I sure home Same has that camera out today since he took so many great pictures last year.

Steve

Hey y'all,
We'll be leaving for San Marcos here in a few minutes. Not staying over night, but we'll be bringing the most awesome salad you ever tasted and Meg will be bringing her guitar. See y'all soon!

Well folks I have to admit it...

THIS RALLY WAS AWESOME!!!

Our attendance was amazing, and higher than last year with 22 forum member families joining us, but also brought along additional friends and family. We used every table in the dining room on Saturday night for what was a potluck I could have considered for my last meal if given the choice. The weather wasn't quite as hot as last year, and the river was higher/faster given an enjoyable float for all.

When I returned the key to the owner today, he thank our group for coming out, and asked if we would come back to rally at Pecan Park the weekend after Memorial Day next year. I told him that it sounded like a plan, and I would put the information out to everyone. It may be a year away, but we have grown each year...next year should be even better! I especially liked that we had more kids this year...it always makes a rally more fun.

Thanks to all of you who attended this great event...(Yes Whitsend even you ) as it wouldn't be this great without you. Now if only I can get the recipe for the squash dish, the green chile burritos, the dump cake, Chris' spice rub, shrimp macaroni....heck...maybe just all of it.

Thanks to Les at Camper Clinic 2, Rusty Apache (Kevin), and Top (Lance) for prizes at the event.

Steve, a million thank you's for organizing this event. It was AWESOME as you said earlier. I will take your advice and book early next year since we were out in the front forty in the heat!!!! It was nice to be to come "inside" the park where it was nice and cool. I am not complaining cause we loved being there.

Thanks to all of you who gave us "newbies" advice. I have another question for anyone that can help. As some of you might have noticed, we had our two kayaks in the back of our Tundra. We have done this many times with no issue but today one of the steps came loose and the longer kayak hit and busted out the protective plastic pano window, the BIG middle one. Steve wants to try to take it off and see if we can just get the plastic replaced. There are five screws at the top , we took them out but then we saw there are two rivets at either end that also or instead of the screws, must come out.

Anyone done this before? We are feeling pretty low after such a GREAT weekend. Any advice welcomed!!!!

Thanks again, Steve-----see you soon.

Kelly

I dislike hearing about you both being so low after a GREAT weekend. After looking at the pictures, I think it won't be as bad as you are anticipating. Take a few more and start a thread about it. The rock guard did it's job perfectly in this case and saved the window from destruction (More costly and no camping till it was really fixed).

We will help y'all through it.

Steve

Ken and I had a great time. I think the pot luck had the best food I've seen. The campfire and young marshmellow server along with our young guitarist was a hoot! Thanks for organizing it Steve.

Steve - Thank you so much for organizing an event that exceeded all of our expectations. Becky, Molly, Andrew and I had an absolute great time, met a lot of new friends, ate a lot of fantastic food, and learned a lot about our Airstream.

Looking forward to the next rally :-)

Thanks again!

Steve, it sounds like a good time was had by all!! very good news.

kds, I was not there and have not seen pics but if you do not have racks then something like this may work better for you in the future. Gets the kayaks up and out over the roof a bit, plus it frees up the bed of your truck!

Glad everyone had fun!!
