Our friends jbroedlow told us about this rally and we love us some Texas Hill country. We will be traveling through your area at the time of the rally, so we made reservations as well. Looking forward to meeting everyone. We arrive on the 28th and depart on the 1st.

Michael, will be flying in from a business metting at lunch time on Saturday, I will pick him up at SAT, and return to camp then he will be preparing his world class, award winning Cajun sausage and tasso jambalaya. Well I don't know about world class, but he did win 1st place at the last Airstream rally, ask him about his prize a "Martha Steward" book.... LOL

My sister in law just sent us this picture of San Marcos. Is Pecan Park still open and above water?

I am having a hard time seeing how the park can NOT sustain damage. Yes, the waters are just that high. I'm looking into it. Poor Wimberly was absolutely DEVASTATED yesterday by flash flooding.

Flood gauge that was just installed way upstream from the park peaked at 43 feet on the Blanco River before it flows into the San Marcos. San Marcos hit flood stage at 7.8 feet when it looks like the gauge went offline, so it could have been 50 feet of water. Hopefully if it did flood people were able to get out in time.

I'm not sure what the park will look like. We were there this weekend and all trailers were evacuated at 2:00 am this morning. The water was already too rough and too high due to rains earlier in the week so we couldn't tube.

Glad to hear you guys made it out. Were you able to get the trailer out in time? I guess that water was high enough to overtop I-35 for a few hours.

They evacuated the entire park from what I could see. I give them kudos for getting people out. They had at least 10 fire trucks helping when we pulled out at 2:00 am. At least 1/2 of the park was vacated and we all started packing up around midnight.

I guess there was bad flooding in 2013 that wiped out most of the rigs in park. There was talk about installing a flood gauge on the Blanco River after that, and exactly that happened in January of this year. If it were not for that gauge we may not be having this conversation!

FYI... I am not from here, however, we had to change our travel plans due to parks closed in the Hill Country and are now in route to Buckhorn Lake Resort - Kerrville, Texas for the next 3 nights, and then will be traveling to where the rally will be held. I did ask if they could handle a rally they said they could and if over 15 units $35 a night. I have never been there we will be traveling there today, just wanted to find a high safe space for us now, I don't know what the park looks like other than the web site, just offering info to all. It does look like any pvt. park will be easy to get into for the weekend, in the event you guys have to select a different park due to closure or flooding.

Your crazy to even think, or actually try to go, about a rally in the Hill country this week. Really check the weather some more.
