Hi To Dylan and Kathy

Hi Dylan and Kathy,
We are first time attendees of Canopener also. We also have the 25 ft. Flying Cloud (RB) and we love it too! We saw that you are from MS. We plan on making a day trip over to Biloxi after Canopener ends. Tom was born at Keesler Air Force Base. His parents moved back to South Carolina when he was 6 months old. He wanted to make a trip over to Biloxi so that he could say that he visited the town where he was born.

Other than Keesler anything we should plan on seeing while we are in Biloxi?

Hello all, we just signed up, and will be on site #10. Looking forward to seeing lots of AS's and new friends. We just finished our '58 Overlander. The maiden voyage was thru the Rockies and up into Canada. It was a great trip, now looking toward the south for part of the winter at least.

Cool - looking forward to seeing everyone at our second canopener and we will be there for 4 day weekend as opposed to 3 this time

We will again be down with our kids and dog - son will then be 4 and then some and daughter will have just turned 2.

Man I hope we get good weather!!

Doesn't matter to me. I live in the New Orleans area, the third rainiest spot in the country (behind Pensacola and Mobile), with 64 inches of rain and 56 rainy days per year on average. (See http://www.climate.com/assets/Landin...es-Summary.pdf for the top ten list) Can't live here if you're afraid of getting wet!

It doesn't even have to rain here in order to "feel" wet!

If we are still in the area in January, we will sign up to attend. Won't know until that time gets here.

Hi Tom & Deborah

Great to hear from more first timers!

While I've been to Biloxi many times in my life, AWChief actually lives there so he can probably give you more "local" advice; but of course you have some great food choices (Mary Mahoneys, Shaggy's, McElroys), the casinos if that's your fun, Jefferson Davis home if you like civil war museums, the beach is much better than when I was a child (can't tell you how long ago!) and then you can drive to Gulfport and visit Foley RV. Ocean Springs and Bay St Louis are very quaint towns for walking/shopping/eating if you like that.

Stay the night.... MS Gulf Coast has several good campgrounds. We've stayed at Cajun RV (Biloxi) Buccaneer (Waveland) and Silver Slipper (Waveland) and have driven through Majestic Oaks (Biloxi) , which seems pretty nice too.

Did that just sound like a commercial or what? HA

Canopener 2014 Map Update 8/18/2014

Linkes to the Canopener 2015 map updates as of August 18, 2014 appear below. We have 77 reservations recorded.

Canopener 2015 Map - Reservations in Loop 103

Canopener 2015 Map - Reservations Outside Loop 103

If you have made reservations with the park but haven't replied to the Canopener RSVP page, please do so today. A campsite reservation through the park system does not automatically register you for the rally. The rally organizers need your formal RSVP so they can plan activities and produce the name tags. If you need to cancel your reservation, please also let the organizers know with a status change on the RSVP page. A link to the RSVP page appears below:

Kathy, you pretty much covered all the high points of the area. I would also recommend to anyone coming to Canopener to visit the Naval Air Museum at Pensacola Naval Air Station. Just an hour to the West of Biloxi is New Orleans. It is always worth a visit for the people watching, food and Music. For sure take the opportunity to visit Foley RV over in Gulfport. Pretty sure Rick Foley and his manager Ron will have a couple of new trailers at Canopener along with all kind of free goodies for the drawing. I spoke with Ron and and he has some special freebies in mind for this Canopener.

Canopener 2015

We're newbies from ft worth tx and are looking for our first rally. We just brought home a 65 overlander from sw Wash. Traveling home to ft worth after being on the road for 6 weeks.
Florida sounds like a perfect place to start meeting fellow airstream owners. So how do we sign up for a rally?

I'm trying to reserve on the reserve page, and after I hit the submit, nothing happens. What am I missing?

Good morning. Sorry you are having difficulty. Clarify for me....are you having trouble with Reserve America attempting to reserve a site at the park, or with the RSVP thread for this rally? Will see if we can help you. Tom

The site is reserved. Site 84 arriving Monday and staying for a week. When I try and reserve on this site (from two different devices) I put in my info, hit submit, and it doesn't take it. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Never mind. I expected to see my name at end of list and my partner just found it in the middle of the list. All is good. See you in January.

Hi guys,

We actually just now started looking at this post for the first time and considering participating as well. This of course depends on if we get our airstream ready though . We are from Mississippi and have an old 34.

Canopener 2015 Map Update 8-28-2014

There have been a number of additions to the map for the sites outside loop 103. The Loop 103 map is unchanged (see post 187).

Here is a link to the updated map.

If this keeps up the outside loop will become the main loop. Going to be a heck of a turn out this Canopener.
