Yeah, I'll hang out, shoot the breeze, and watch you guys eat your fill.

But my goal is to one day be the world's oldest living diabetic, which means sometimes depriving myself in order to keep by glucose under control. Just in case they ever come up with a real cure, I want to live long enough to take advantage of it!
My uncle is in his eighties and is diabetic. He was doing great until he took the Flu shot last year (it was based on insect proteins) anyhoo, he became deathly ill two days after and was hospitalized for several weeks. Diabetics do have to be careful as we all do. There is a specialized eating plan of regular foods that Dr. Sears recommends. His research for over 40 years was diabetics. Now his son utilizes the research for people in general- called "the Zone" of food combinations that balance the diet at every meal. Mild diabetics have complete reversal.

Ok, I am going to bring Texas Trash 'n' Chips with Mexican Flippers to the Thursday pot luck. I am still working on the other two pot lucks.

Getting down to the wire. Do not know about anyone else but I am getting antsy. If the weather is agreeable I am going to head on over to Fort Pickens, Gulf Islands National Park on the 4th. It is only $13 a night with the National Park Access Pass. Would be happy to have some company.

Re campground

Hi all. We have a (new to us) '08 20' Safari SE. Can't make rally this year but will be there in late Jan. Are there fire rings? Any fires allowed? Could we use a small bbq? Thanks.

There are no fire rings at Top Sail. We have used above ground propane fire places and table top grills in the past

Whew - had a close call - I had my kid sick one day last week then I was sick and missed two days of work this week - any longer I may have risked eating into AL and would have had to potentially miss canopener

We are are still coming

Just have to figure out what we will bring as far as good for the "events"

We have grandkids coming with us to CanOpener. So thinking of things they would like to do while camping that weekend. We are going to take their bikes and a couple of kites for them to fly on the beach if the weather is good.

BassCan,
I am bringing my 8yr old daughter and was also trying to decide what to bring for her. Definitely her bike and some board games but not sure what else. Do you think we would have enough kids for a pint-sized corn hole tournament?

We may have enough kids for a kid size corn hole tournament attending Can Opener.

Given that Canopener 2015 is already looking at overflow to a nearby park, I thought this bit of doggerel, that I first saw at the Oklahoma State University Student Union Parking lot in the late 1970's, would be appropriate:

Quote:
When Noah sailed the ocean blue,
He had his problems, same as you.
For forty days he drove his Ark,
Before he found a place to park!

These events pretty much run themselves, but do require someone go over to the clubhouse early to make sure tables and chairs are arranged for the event and then return the clubhouse to original condition afterwards. I promise you will not be by yourselves.....folks always pitch in to help. Holler at me if you could help out.

Look forward to more frequent posts as we enter our last month of preparations.
Tom,
I'll be glad to assist with the Thursday Chili night Shindig. Just point me in the right direction and I'll gladly do it.
