So far only 3 spots reserved on loop 101. I was hoping loop 101 would fill up with silver trailers as well. That would be awesome.

That's not a problem at all. I find that I talk more about drinking, than the actual time that I have too drink... Days are to short...

Canopener is not college spring break so non drinkers will not feel uncomfortable or out of place. Many attendees do not drink. An Airstream rally is a social experience where people mingle, talk and participate in group activities as well as enjoy the scenic and tourist attractions of the local area. People keep coming back year after year because they enjoy the fellowship of Airstreamers with similar interests.
Having attended two Canopeners I'd say those who do drink do so very responsibly. I've never seen anyone behave inappropriately due to excessive alcohol consumption. I have seen many drinkers and non drinkers have a great time.
With respect to group activities you can participate as much or little as you desire. Some people organize smaller group hikes and outings once they get to Canopener. If you are new, definitely attend the meals, particularly the pot luck dinner and breakfast. During the day you'll see small and large groups of people congregating around the campground. Walk up and join in the conversation. Bring lightweight chairs you can carry to events or over to a neighboring Airstream.
One other piece of advice. Don't complain if an event isn't perfect. This is an informal rally organized by the people attending the event, not professionals. No one is paid and there is no rally fee. If something isn't right, jump in and help fix it.
A final word for newbies. Come prepared to meet some wonderful people and make some new lasting friendships.

Couldn't have said it better
Chuck is absolutely spot on! This will be our 4th Canopener. My wife and I are still gainfully employed, so we only get to meet up with some of these folks once or twice a year. In those weekend get togethers we have fostered some relationships around the campfire that are more dear to us than a lot of our blood relations.

Some of us drink excessively after attending the Can Opener. We can't handle the year long wait between them.

Ok which block of sites are we aiming for? I will be in a tent this year. Either on Motorcycle or by car.
The trailer has a new owner.

Hi Michelle! Glad to hear you're planning on coming. At this next Canopener, it will have been 5 years since you went to dinner with my wife and I at our first Canopener. Time does fly! Hope everything is going well. Russ

So far there are only 5 trailers on loop 101. It would be cool if that loop would fill up with silver trailers as well.

Yes time flies.
I would like to be with the rest of you on whatever loop you are planning to fill up. I am going to look at the map and see which site is best for me to pitch a tent and get close to the showers.

Michelle, we started in loop 103 (which we were in the last time you came) and that loop is full already. Sites in loop 101 are now being reserved but you will have to find out if tents are allowed in that loop. There is a fairly new tent loop near loop 103. Russ

Eating at Canopener
If you haven't yet RSVP'd on the official Canopener RSVP page, please do so today. I'll be issuing a map update very soon and the updated map will only include Airstreams appearing on the official RSVP page. Remember, if you don't RSVP on the official page you won't receive one of the coveted and highly collectible Canopener 2014 name badges.
For those who have never attended at Canopener, there is plenty of delicious food. The pot luck dinners and breakfasts are a highlight of the rally. Here are some pictures from Canopener 2013 to whet your appetite. Book a site today and post your RSVP on the official site.

Chuck, great photos! The potluck dinner "under the stars" (ok, under the tents?) was definitely the way to go. Can't wait for January!

Just booked site 89 in Loop 102. A pull through, probably the last one available.
I'll have to see if bikes can make the trip...

I'm counting, but mainly because I cannot request time off more than 89 days in advance. That being said however, we are looking forward with great anticipation to going to the CanOpener!
We are planning to go to the Alumilina Rally in Wateree State Park in September then travel on to Myrtle Beach for a week if we can.
We also plan to attend the Falluminum Rally on Chatuge Lake (Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds campground) in October.
All this in the "new" '97 34' that is working out very well for us.
