Stratman, that would make a great t-shirt for the rally.

We live in the middle of the weather, political, social, economic, and law making experiment. We will test anything. You have to remember New Jersey has the best politicians money can buy so we get it all first.

Update on the Thursday Night Music Opportunity

We're having the chili and dessert potluck at 4:30pm so the timing is good. Open mic is at 6pm and the main concert is 7-8pm. Lucky Mud performs traditional American folk music and have released 8 CDs. I've included a link to their website: Lucky Mud - Music with Words. Russ
I've learned that the Thursday night musical entertainment is now going to be held inside the clubhouse. I've been assured that this won't stop our chili event as we will be the primary audience for Lucky Mud. The only impact I see is that any conversations need to held outside on the back porch so as not to impact the music. Russ

Canopener 2014 - Schedule of Events

Thursday, January 9 (4:30pm) – Chili and Dessert Potluck. A get-together for early arrivers.Bring chili, side dish, or a dessert. Hosted in the clubhouse by Kate and Don (AirForums name is StreamNTyme). A signup list has been posted.
Thursday, January 9 (6:00pm) – Music by Lucky Mud.This is a Friends of Topsail Hill State Park sponsored event that will be held in the clubhouse. Open mic is at 6pm and the main concert is 7pm. See my post on January 2 for the link to the Lucky Mud website. The park anticipates the vast majority of the crowd will be Airstreamers.
Friday, January 10 (9:00am) – Hike with the Ranger. Led by a Topsail Hill State Park Ranger, this hike will commence at the second Tram Station near campsite 91 (see the campground map I posted January 1). The hike will go to the beach and is ¾ mile each way. The ranger will discuss seven different natural communities and answer questions along the way. If there is interest, he will also take you to the freshwater dune lake. This will be very similar to the Breakfast with the Ranger held Saturday morning in terms of topics discussed. Meet at the second Tram Station at 9am.
Friday, January 10 (Noon) - Cornhole Tournament.Very popular last year, the tournament will again be a single elimination tournament. This event is being coordinated by Stan and Lynn (AirForums name is StanandLynn) on Wild Oak Lane in front of campsite 156. One buck for the kitty - winner takes all and receives trophy.
Friday, January 10 (6:00pm) - Meet and Greet.Located in the clubhouse from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Bring your own drinks and maybe an appetizer or dessert.
Saturday, January 11 (9:00am) - Breakfast with the Ranger. Join a Ranger to learn about the history of the park and its history. Ask questions about the park, its wildlife, or anything. Cost is anticipated to be $5 for adults and $3 for children. This event will be a little different than the last couple of years. We are back on schedule (the second Saturday of each month) for the breakfast to be hosted by the Friends of Topsail Hill State Park. The event will be open to the whole campground (mostly aluminum anyway) and is first come first served (limit of approximately 80). Get there early to get a seat. The event will be located in the clubhouse.
Saturday, January 11 (Noon) - Trailer Open House. For those of you who are willing to open your trailer up, this is the time. This is optional as we understand not everyone wants to open up their living space for public inspection. You will receive an “Open House” sign in your welcome packet. Please post this sign on the outside of your trailer to indicate you are participating. Rick and JJ Foley (owners of Foley RV/Airstream of Mississippi in Gulfport, Mississippi) (AirForums name is Overlander & Sea) and Ron and Renee Lester (he’s the Foley RV Sales Manager) (AirForums name is Ron ASMS) are bringing a new Airstream for your viewing. Location of the new Airstream will be at the east end of Wild Oak Lane.
Saturday, January 11 (4:00pm) – Block Party/Potluck Dinner and Door Prizes.Bring a dish. A signup list has been posted. Like last year, the event will be located on Wild Oak Lane. In addition, due to large size of this rally, the door prizes will be done right after the dinner also on Wild Oak Lane. The door prizes are great - donated by Foley RV; Airstream, Inc.; and Highland Haven Airstream Park. Volunteers should meet at campsite 133 (Tom & Robin) at 2pm to get work assignments.
Saturday, January 11 (7:00pm) – Entertainment. You don't want to miss this. The entertainment this year will be provided by JT (AirForums name is stratman). In addition to an entertaining show from JT, get ready for karaoke! Location is clubhouse.
Sunday, January 12 (9:00am) - Potluck Breakfast. Bring a dish. A signup list has been posted. Location is clubhouse and it opens at 8am.

Campfires

For you newbies, Topsail Hill Preserve State Park does not have fire pits or places to burn campfires. If you want a fire, you are allowed to bring a fire pit from home.

Checking in at the Canopener Rally

When you arrive at the rally, see Roadtoaster (Greg) on site 154 to get your badges. You will also receive a welcome bag containing: a Schedule of Events, campground maps that Florida 55 (Chuck) has been maintaining, a "Open House" sign that you display on your trailer indicating if you are participating in the open house, and brochures from Foley RV/Airstream of Mississippi and Virginia Highland Haven Airstream Park. Greg arrives Wednesday.

On the subject of the badges, if you have any of the plastic sleeves/clips or lanyards from previous rallies or occasions, please bring those.

Russ
