JV & Kay -
This is a great rally for newbies. All of the activities are voluntary, you can participate as much or as little as you desire. You'll meet lots of friendly people. The atmosphere is extremely casual. If you have questions about your trailer you'll find people who are happy to share their knowledge and experience.
When my wife and I bought our Airstream we expected to enjoy camping but had no concept there would be a vibrant social dimension to the lifestyle. Over the past 2 1/2 years of ownership we've met many wonderful people, shared good food and conversation with fellow Airstreamers, and made some strong friendships.
Canopener is one of the best Airstream rallies. Some people travel extremely long distances to attend (it is over 600 miles from our house to the location) and come early or stay late. I strongly encourage you to make a reservation and enjoy Canopener 2014.

First rally, that is if my new axles are installed by then. Shipped Monday, direct to my house so barring another mistake on Dexter's part they should be in soon.
This isn't like a car show where you are going to judge my work-in-progress is it?
Looking forward to meeting so many that have unknowingly helped me get mine to where it is.

Tom,
Even if it wasn't canopener I don't think most people would judge an Airstream that's a work in process. Most airstreamers can visualize what the end product will be and will ask you all about your work in process. I'm interested in any airstream new, old, or a work in progress.
Based on the canopener I attended two years ago I think most folks will be to blitzed to notice, lol. I know I might be. I'll have lots of beer, my fire pit, and conversation at site 51.

Yikes!!
Including FLMarine and clancy_boy, 95 units and more than 200 people including children and a few guests. And all because a few years ago, Devoman innocently asked if anyone would be interested in coming to Florida in early January for a rally! We've attended all but one. Many of the attendees have not missed any and travel more than 1000 miles one way to attend. It will be great to see old friends and we are looking forward to gaining some new ones at this rally just as in years past. If you don't have fun with this group, and leave with some new friendships, you won't have fun anywhere. See you in January.

We are there with you. Right now just trying to find the time to finish the bathroom and bunks. If I find two days I might strip the clear coat..
We have camped in ours when it was an aluminum tent with AC and a kitchen sink. Still good to go!

I think last year there was a couple of tin tents. A tin tent is better than a leaky soft tent any day.

Getting Loaded for Canopener
Hmm . . . might not have been the best choice for a title. Anyway, we are loading the Otter, changing the dinette fixture from Brass-and-bright to 3-bulb and subtle, and ready to display our upgraded interior textiles. Can't wait to see everyone.

Please PM me if you are interested in a big loop site to coordinate a time for me to cancel our reservation. At least it will give you a fair shot at booking it.

2014 Canopener - FYI
My husband and I had not officially signed up for the Canopener when we made our TopSail reservations, but we would have been in the park during the rally. In fact, we had reservations for campsite #133 12/16 thru 12/27 before the Canopener, and #53 beginning January 1st thru 15th. Unfortunately, we have had to cancel both due to unforeseen medical issues, so I hope someone can make use of the sites.
Maybe another time or place .

Maybe it's the Auburn thing - is Brad going to have Auburn flags flying? That would be awful.

I'm sorry Russ but I can't control him. It might be worse than just a flag. We'll just have to see
