And let us not forget the Margaritas and shots of mystery fermented/distilled products.

Nibblin' on sponge cake
Watchin' the sun bake
All of those tourists covered with oil
Strummin' my six string
On my front porch swing
Smell those shrimp they're beginning to boil

Many changes were made to the RSVP list over the past few days. This morning I updated the Canopener 2014 Map to reflect the new entries. Here is the current version:

That doesn't include 15 or 20 shiny silver trailers in the next loop over- but awesome none the less.
Thank you.

The ultimate karaoke song:

Last night at the bar it was karaoke night
Yeah, everybody down there was feeling alright
They got big margarita pitchers, two for one
Yum, yum!
They were feeling footloose and ready for some fun

When I signed up, I was ready to go
But they didn't call my name for an hour or so
Damn if they didn't make me wait too long
I was in no kinda shape to sing a Jon Bon's song

Too drunk to karaoke
Too drunk to karaoke

If you keep on drinkin' you're gonna be
Too drunk to karaoke, just like me

Too drunk to karaoke
Too drunk to karaoke

Well, the place got rockin', temptation was strong
All the pretty girls kept a eggin' me on
Well, I shoulda kept my flip flops glued to the chair
But no I jumped right up and slicked back my hair

Too drunk to karaoke
Too drunk to karaoke

You can sing in the shower till you sound real good
You can terrorize the whole damn neighborhood
But when you hit that stage with that mic in your hand
You better pace yourself son if you wanna have fans

Too drunk to karaoke
Too drunk to karaoke

If you ask me, hell I killed that song!
When I looked around, everybody was gone
Except a couple of bouncers 'bout half my age
They grabbed the microphone and threw me off the stage

You're too drunk to karaoke
That's what they told me
You're too drunk to karaoke
How can that be?

You don't have to be good, don't have to be refined
You just have to be a legend in your own mind
Don't have to rehearse, or even sing on key
Just prove that theory of drunketivity

Too drunk to karaoke
Too drunk to karaoke
Look at me!
You're too drunk to karaoke
Just like me
Too drunk to karaoke

OK, maybe as a newbie I get get what it means when they say maximum vehicle length 34 feet. If that is just the trailer I am good, but if it includes the 20 plus feet of big truck then I am toast ;-)

Hi oledawg, first of all there are plenty of sites left (83 per the Reserve America website). The question is which sites will accommodate your trailer. I noticed that for sites available in the 60's to 80's, that most show 40 foot max length. Considering your trailer of 30', and having it hang over the drive a little at the back, you should have room for your truck at the front. Maybe park the truck at an angle if necessary. If it came down to it, there are also parking spaces at various locations in the campground for vehicles. In the back loop, where they show 45' max length, people routinely have 34' trailers and their trucks parked right in front of them. You can also call the front office at the campground for their opinion. Russ

Oledawg, even tho the back loop may be full they are showing plenty of sites available. Of course it would be nice to be in the main circle but I think the sites closer to the front and around the lake are better. If I was unable to book the main loop I would be happy to be in one of them. Agree with Ladyducks, give the office a call, real nice and helpful folks.

Nope just the Trailer, does not include the TV you should be fine. Most times people disconnect from their TV and the park nearby, usually on the site.

Question Where is the building...

Hi,

Where is the building located where you have meals, etc? I can't find anything on the map.

Here's the actual Topsail Hill State Park campground map that you are given when you check-in to the park. The clubhouse is in between the basketball hoop and swimming pool. Note that this map is from a view 180 degrees from the usual campground map that Florida 55 posts.

I'll be posting the rally agenda in the next few days.

Schedule of Events

Here's the preliminary Schedule of Events for the upcoming Canopener Rally. Note - additional details for many of these events will be published separately within the next month.

Schedule of Events

Thursday, January 9 (4:30pm) – Happy Hour/Chili Potluck. A get-together for early arrivers. Bring chili, side dish, or a dessert. Hosted in the clubhouse by Kate and Don (AirForums name is StreamNTyme). A signup list will be posted.
Friday, January 10 (9:00am) – Ranger-led Hike. Led by a Topsail Hill State Park Ranger, this hike will explore one of the more interesting areas of the park. More details to follow.
Friday, January 10 (Noon) - Cornhole Tournament. Very popular last year, the tournament will again be a single elimination tournament. This event is being coordinated by Stan and Lynn (AirForums name is StanandLynn).
Friday, January 10 (6:00pm) - Meet and Greet. Located in the clubhouse from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Bring your own drinks and maybe an appetizer or dessert.
Saturday, January 11 (9:00am) - Breakfast with the Ranger. Join a Ranger to learn about the history of the park. Ask questions about the park, its wildlife, or anything. Cost is anticipated to be $5 for adults and $3 for children. This event will be a little different than the last couple of years. We are back on schedule (the second Saturday of each month) for the breakfast to be hosted by the Friends of Topsail Hill State Park. The event will be open to the whole campground (mostly aluminum anyway) and is first come first served (limit of 80). Located in the clubhouse.
Saturday, January 11 (Noon) - Trailer Open House. For those of you who are willing to open your trailer up, this is the time. This is optional as we understand not everyone wants to open up their living space for public inspection. Rick and JJ Foley (owners of Foley RV/Airstream of Mississippi in Gulfport, Mississippi) (AirForums name is Overlander & Sea) and Ron and Renee Lester (he’s the Foley RV Sales Manager) (AirForums name is Ron ASMS) are bringing a new Airstream for your viewing.
Saturday, January 11 (4:00pm) – Block Party/Potluck Dinner. Bring a dish. A signup list will be posted. Like last year, the event will be located on Wild Oak Lane.
Saturday, January 11 (7:00pm) – Entertainment/Door Prizes. You don't want to miss this. The entertainment this year will be provided by JT (AirForums name is stratman). In addition to an entertaining show from JT, get ready for karaoke! In addition, the door prizes are great - donated by Foley RV and Airstream, Inc.
Sunday, January 12 (9:00am) - Potluck Breakfast. Bring a dish. A signup list will be posted. Clubhouse opens at 8:00am.

Please add to this list what dish you are bringing to the dinner and breakfast potlucks. To add your name/food items to the list - copy everything below the dashed line, paste into a new post, then add your stuff. If you don't know how to do the copy and paste thing, just do a post with your food items and someone else will add it to the list.

Also please put a label on the dish as to what the dish is. We have attendees who have certain allergies and it isn't always apparent what the dish is when you look at it.
