Reading all these posts, this sounds like a mass consumption rally with all the pot lucks and breakfasts. Is there anything else to do here besides eat?

I have a feeling that alcohol consumption is also going to be one of the major pass times. Got to stay warm in our brutal winters. It might get down to a bone chilling 40 degrees for a few hours.

Walk/run along the 3-mile white sand beach, bike along the trails, hike through the piney woods, sight see the beautiful coastal areas, photograph the sunset, socialize all day long, lots of dog walking. "Some" people even swim in the Gulf on an exceptionally beautiful 30* January day.

All this activity actually requires replenishment.

New Years' resolutions begin after this rally ends.

To add to what Ike T said, the beaches of northwest Florida are absolutely beautiful, with sugar white sand and clear water. A lot of people visit the beach in Topsail Hill Preserve State Park (the state of Florida bought this beachfront tract to preserve it forever). From the campground, the beach is a mile or so, so you might want to ride a bicycle (nice bike paths) or take the park's free tram.

Other than the beaches, just Google Destin or San Destin for information on the area. There is a lot, I mean a lot, of shopping - you name the store, they probably have it.

Another thing to check out is the community of Seaside. It is about 30 minutes east of the campground and is a picturesque seaside town. The movie, The Truman Show with Jim Carrey, was filmed there. There are six Airstreams in the center of Seaside that are little restaurants.

Ask Ike T about the gulf swimming. He's our leader on the Polar Bear swim.

Unofficial count

The RSVP page shows 78 units but there is one name that registered 2 sites. My unofficial count is 79 units and 164 people. Clancy Boy will make it 80 and 167 people. This is going to be a very large party. I will print the name badges in a couple of weeks so if anyone moves around, please post the change here and on the RSVP page. pearlake99, if you are reading this, I need the names of both members of your party, right now I have only one.

Counting the days!

I'm coming, I have site offers... Just a little busy right now to push the button. We picked up little Preston today, 6 months old..... a new learning experience for us. So, we won't sign up for any group things, we'll pass on the dinner with the group but we will be there in our Airstream..... Daddy, Mommy, Layla and Baby "P".

I wouldn't miss it and this has become a really great group to hang with.

Merry Christmas ALL.
