Bettye

If the converter is original it should be changed anyway, and might take 30 minutes or so. If it has already been replaced, it should only take about 10 minutes to replace- an easy job.

You can drive to the rally without the converter. You will need it at the rally to recharge your batteries. You need the batteries for lights, furnace, water pump, etc.

Good luck

Not looking good

Well, hubby's home now. He was able to reset the breaker, so it's apparently NOT fried. But, I guess the inverter is. Not looking good for us and the Canopener!

Bettye,

Keep your fingers crossed. There is still time to get everything fixed. We'll see you there.

Bettye,

Apparently I have a pop up blocker so pm didn't go through.
I must be special. Certainly is aggravating.

Updated Schedule of Events

Schedule of Events

Thursday, January 3 (5:30pm) – Happy Hour/Chili. Chili and wine tasting for early arrivers hosted again by Jim and Regina (AirForums name is James Rogers) in site 122. We have 3 pots of chili so far. Maybe 1 more is needed. Please post if you want to bring that one. Otherwise, bring chili sides, appetizers, or desserts.
Friday, January 4 (Noon) - Cornhole Tournament. Something new this year, the tournament will be a single elimination tournament combining both men and women. This event is being coordinated by Stan and Lynn (AirForums name is StanandLynn). See Stan and Lynn's announcement in post #348.
Friday, January 4 (6:00pm) - Meet and Greet. Located in the Clubhouse. 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Bring your own drinks and maybe an appetizer.
Saturday, January 5 (9:00am) - Breakfast with the Ranger. Have breakfast and hear a Ranger give a talk about Topsail Hill Preserve State Park. Located in the Clubhouse. Menu - pancakes, eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy, coffee, and orange juice. Cost is $4 per person. Due to limited space in the Clubhouse, a signup list will start November 1 – limited to 80 participants. This breakfast is being hosted by the Volunteers of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park as a fundraiser for the park.
Saturday, January 5 (Noon) - Trailer Open House. For those of you who are willing to open your trailer up, this is the time. This is optional as we understand not everyone wants to open up their living space for public inspection. New this year – prize awarded for best decorated trailer. This contest is being coordinated by Susan (AirForums name is Sunnygirl) and Chuck (Airforums name is Florida 55). See Susan's announcement in post # 391. Also new this year - a brand new Airstream is being brought to the Canopener by Rick and JJ Foley (AirForums name is Overlander & Sea) for your viewing. Rick and JJ have an Airstream dealership (Airstream of Mississippi) located in Gulfport, Mississippi. Ron and Renee Lester (he's the Sales Manager) will host viewing of the trailer. They are in site 139.
Saturday, January 5 (4:00pm) – Block Party/Potluck Dinner. Bring a dish. A signup list has been posted. The event will be located on Wild Oak Lane. You need to bring chairs. A number of tables will be provided but more tables are welcome.
Saturday, January 5 (6:30pm) - Contest Winner Announcements, Door Prizes, Entertainment. You don't want to miss this. The door prizes are great - donated from Airstream of Mississippi and Airstream, Inc. Pete (AirForums name is Foil-warped) will sing a number of classics and also play popular dance songs like the Electric Slide, Cupid Shuffle, and Mustang Sally. If you would like to sing, Pete would welcome it. Pete may not have your song, so just bring your own CDG (karaoke disk) to load into Pete’s equipment. I've heard a rumor that other talented musicians are attending - anyone's welcome to perform.
Sunday, January 6 (9:00am) - Potluck Breakfast. Bring a dish. A signup list has been posted. Clubhouse opens at 8:00am.

Checking In

Upon your arrival at the rally, see Roadtoaster (Greg), site 154, to get your badges. You will also receive a bag containing: a Schedule of Events, a Canopener Rally Map, a Cornhole Tournament flyer, a Trailer Decorating Contest ballot, a "Open House" sign that you display on your trailer indicating you are participating in the open house, and an Airstream of Mississippi brochure.

Sometimes new rally attendees ask what they are supposed to do during the rally. Other than choosing what events to participate in, the answer is just to walk around and talk to people. Of course, normal tourist activities are abundant in the area, but making friends and comparing Airstream notes seems to be the predominate activity. If you see a fire going one evening, just crash the party. The fun factor is up to you!

Fires

For you newbies, Topsail Hill Preserve State Park does not have fire pits or places to burn fires. If you want a fire, you are allowed to bring a fire pit from home.

Looks to be 8 to 10 here already. Even Santa is here, hanging around site 118 (probable early arriver for the Bloody Mary's). Weather forecast is looking good for the rally. Bring your party hats and dancing shoes!

Happy New Year and travel safe.

Stores/Addresses

Walmart - There's a Walmart very close to the park. It's one of the new smaller Walmarts but has a full grocery section. Directions: from Topsail Hill State Park, go north .5 miles on Highway 30A to Highway 98, and then turn left (west) on Highway 98, go another .7 miles to the store. Total distance 1.2 miles. Address: 6712 US Highway 98 West, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.

Publix grocery stores -

(1) If you come down Highway 331 from the north to Highway 98 (and turn right to the west), you will drive past a Publix on the right side of Highway 98. It's just 6 miles from the campground. Address: 2038 US Highway 98 West, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.

(2) If you are already at the campground, there's a Publix that's closer. Follow the directions to the Walmart but just go another 1.5 miles further west. Total drive from the campground of 2.7 miles. Address: 725 Grand Boulevard, Sandestin, FL 32550.

Lowes or Home Depot - both of these stores are further west on Highway 98. About a 15 minute drive.

Topsail Hill Preserve State Park - for those of you with GPSs, here is the address from the park website - 7525 West Scenic Highway 30A, Santa Rosa Beach, FL 32459.

I am spending the day getting packed up and ready to go. My space is showing available for tomorrow night so if the weather cooperates I may come on over on Wednesday. Including Canopener and a couple of weeks more this is going to be my longest trip I have taken with the trailer. I am going to have to be a bit creative with the packing as I am bringing a bit more food and clothing than I normally would for a long weekend trip.

I can fit two of your airstreams inside of mine I would imagine packing can be interesting!
See you there!
