Thank you Russ & Linda. As always you do a fine job of putting this rally on. And to all the rest of the volunteers.
This was one humdinger of a rally. It could of been better if I was able to use my right arm. I did use it more than I should have. Next year I will make my bread pudding and whiskey sauce.
WE made new friends and was able to talk to some old freinds.
We get to stay for another week. So for the ones leaving take it easy and be safe on you rtrip home.

We have had so much fun at our first Canopener! A huge thank you to everyone who ran things, set up things, cooked things, and generally put up with the rest of us yahoos!

We've made new friends during this rally and reconnected with some we haven't seen in a while. Everyone stay safe for the drive home, we've got a start out early and have about a 500 mile haul home for school/work tomorrow.

This was a great end to our Christmas trip and we may have to make this an annual event for the Griffin family.

Until next time - See more. Do more. Live more.

Matt, Stephanie, Justin, and Meghan.

Ditto from Joe and I in thanking Russ and Linda for all you have done over the past YEAR in planning the 2013 Canopener. Best one EVER (and yes I do say that every year - but it's always true! The one and only Canopener gets better every year, woohoo
Who's ready for next year?!?!

Canopener 2013 - Sunday Breakfast

Last Canopener event, the Sunday pot luck breakfast. Dutch oven hash browns, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, baked apples, cheese grits, turkey sausage, oatmeal, fruit, an assortment of baked goods and much, much, more. Thanks to the cooking campers for another delicious meal.

Plus Russ made the final award of signed NFL football jerseys courtesy of Foley RV.

Canopener 2013 - Until We Meet Again!

After breakfast there is the cleanup. The Canopener Rally has a well deserved reputation for leaving the park and clubhouse in better condition than when the attendees arrived.

Once the clubhouse is clean the rally is officially over. Airstreams are loaded and one by one file out of the park over the course of the day. Of course a few Airstreamers remain to enjoy the white sandy beaches at Topsail and the attractions of the Destin, Florida area.

Thanks to everyone who made Canopener 2013 the best ever. Special appreciation to Russ and Linda Drake for their superb job of coordinating the event. Also to Airstream and Foley RV for their support. And of course all of those who attended this year's event. Without you, the friendship, fellowship, and good times would not be possible.

Thanks!

Glad we made the trip! Food, visits, open house tours were all great.....
Thanks to Foley Rv for the great door prizes...and to Someday's daughter for pulling out our ticket so we could take home a "Canopener" souvenir! We had a great time. Thanks to all who put so much time and effort into organizing this event!

Canopener 2013 - The Experience

With all of the large group events it is easy to forget the small group and one-on-one encounters that make Canopener a great event where lasting friendships are formed.

Canopener 2013 - Our Airstreams

Without our Airstreams there would be no Canopener. Here are a few of the silver stars of the rally.

What a great time. Worth every mile from Michigan. The best part is that we dont have to be home for two more weeks. We will be back next year.

There are a good number of us still here, helping wind down the rally. One last dinner somewhere, then off to the real world in the morning. As is always the case, we had a great time. Since the attendance grows each year, others must be enjoying it as well.

We also echo the thanks to Russ and Linda for keeping this going in the right direction. And a hearty thanks to our fellow volunteers for a job well done.

I will try to get some pictures up in a day or three.

Safe travels.

Well, we made it all the way through Jackson, Mississippi and were doing so awesome sparks were flying out the back of the rig!

Wait.....that's not right.....

So. If you just happened to be driving westbound on I-20 and saw what looked like someone cutting the bottom out of his vintage airstream, ripping out the holding tanks and feeding them back in through the access hatch (which will one day be back under the sink) you might not have been hallucinating.

Gotta love the vintage units! That's why I travel with lots of tools.

Bathroom/tanks rebuild was next on the list, I've just got everything ripped out a little earlier than I thought I would!

Again, we had a great time and can't wait until next year!

We made it home at about 9:30! 4hours of rain! Whew!
What better to do on the way home from canopener than to have lunch at the Airstream food court at Seaside just down the street!
I have never had luck parking at Seaside, but was able to parallel park all 56' of my rig right up front. I almost had to go back to my truck to find a travel size bottle of nuvite to polish while we ate! Haha!
Great Rally! We had alot of fun....when do we start getting ready for canopener 2014?

Sites and Sounds of having Fun

Many thanks to all, who put together and played a part of a Great Canopener Rally. The cool and damp weather didn't slow this crowd down. Good food & drink, friends, and a lot of tall tales......Here are just a few images of the events that took place.

Thanks!

Robin and I wanted to extend our thanks to all those who put this rally together.....and especially to Russ and Linda. Once again we renewed old acquaintances and made new ones. The weather was not perfect, but fortunately we were blessed with breaks which allowed us to participate in all the activities and share great fellowship. Great food, wonderful folks. It just doesn't get much better than this. Safe travels and happy trails to all as we continue our Airstream adventures.
