We are so sorry not to be there. Where can we send our $8.00 for our two missed breakfasts with the rangers? Our deer-hit airstream is now sealed to the elements again. Will be camping by spring. There's much to be rebuilt inside and out. Really wish we were there!!!!!!!

Breakfast with the Ranger Saturday Morning
It's Saturday morning and time for breakfast with the park ranger. The park volunteers hosted at breakfast of biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, pancakes, orange juice and coffee. Ranger Fred covered a number of current topics at the park including the wildlife, the work camper program, and the history of the park. The volunteers cooked the breakfast and the proceeds went to fund programs at the park.
First picture - the clubhouse where the breakfast took place.
Second picture - Russ and Jose handling the money
Third pictures - the volunteers preparing the meal
Fourth picture - starting to gather inside the clubhouse
Fifth picture - Ranger Fred
Sixth picture - enjoying the meal

Thank you for all you do - I am sure most of it unseen, but not unappreciated. You are the best.

Canopener 2013 - Open House - Saturday Afternoon
Many of the Airstreams at Canopener participated in the open house Saturday afternoon. In addition, Airstream of Mississippi (Foley RV) brought a new 28' International Serenity for viewing. This year a decorating contest was held with winners determined by vote of the attendees. Tim & Linda (tkasten), site 112 won second place. First prize was awarded to Don & Kate (Streamntyme), site 129.

Canopener 2013 - Potluck Dinner - Saturday Evening
One of the major highlights of Canopener is the Saturday night potluck dinner where attendees try to outdo each other creating delicious gourmet dishes for the appreciative campers. This year, our group was too large for the clubhouse to accommodate so the potluck was held outdoors in one of the roads in front of campsites. The afternoon rain fortunately lifted just in time for the Canopener chefs to bring their dishes out to be sampled and savored. Plus the fire pit helped to take the chill off.

Canopener 2013 - Prizes and Entertainment
After devouring the world class smorgasbord of gastronomical delights, the Canopener campers moved to the clubhouse for the awarding of prized and the evening entertainment.
First Wes (Wes & Peggy), received the cornhole tournament trophy from Stan (StanandLynn). Then Susan (Sunnygirl) announced the winners of the open house decorating contest -- Tim & Linda (tkasten) and Don & Kate (Streamntyme). Russ (Luckyducks) followed up with the door prize drawing. A number of Airstream appropriate and themed door prizes were supplied by the Airstream corporate office and Foley RV (Airstream of Mississippi). The Canopener attendees greatly appreciated the generous donation of door prizes to the event. After door prizes were awarded Pete (Foil-warped) provided the entertainment - music for the dancers. A good time was had by all.

Thank you to all that planned this event and to the many who helped to make it a success. Your hard work and dedication is appreciated.
We pulled out early and are making our way back. Safe travels to all as we go our separate ways.

I know how you feel! We have spent most of our time camping "in", too! I'm just getting over bronchitis and although I'm not contagious, nobody wants to listen to my constant coughing and i don't need to be out in this weather. But, I'm still SO glad we came! Feel better, Pete and Geneva!
