After a few glasses of wine, watching the surf come in, my wife and I had the thought that if aluminum was magnetic would the gathering of over 70 trailers at the Canopener cause a shift in the earth's axis?

I have a large one with the spout in the bottom - is that what you mean? I also have a smaller one. We could use that for hot water and have hot chocolate for the children?
I'll claim the pot, coffee, cream and sugar, if no one has yet.
Hopefully someone would help me with the correct amount a coffee it takes. I'm not home right now to give you the exact size if the pot.

Yes I know of one that is and it not the one you would guess as your first guess. So maybe 2 are Airstreamers

Breakfast Coffee

Howie,

There is a large (30 cup, I think) coffee pot in the clubhouse. Due to the amount of time required to brew, someone should start it around 8:00 AM.

The mixture is subjective to taste, but I used the following data for last year's brew:

What's the size of a cup of coffee? The standard used in the coffee maker industry for a "cup" of coffee is 5 liquid ounces. To ensure a 5 ounce cup of brewed coffee, the cup markings on the coffee makers represent 5 1/2 ounces per cup as some water is absorbed by the coffee grounds and some is lost in steam during the brewing cycle.
What type of coffee should I use? Use Regular/Electric Perk ground coffee or "Coffee Ground for All Coffee makers" for best results. DO NOT USE DRIP OR FINELY GROUND COFFEE as flooding of the basket can occur. There are some coffees that state they can be used for both drop and perk coffee makers, however through our testing it was found that this is ground too fine and can cause flooding the percolator style coffee makers. As a guideline, use the following amounts of ground coffee for the number of cups being prepared. Use standard measuring cups ( as used to measure flour, sugar, etc.) to measure the coffee. The amounts of coffee below will brew mild to medium strength coffee which most people prefer.

The amount of coffee can be adjusted to suit personal preference. As a guide, there are about 5 cups of coffee to a pound (16 ounces).
  • 12 - 18 Cups Coffee = 1 - 1 1/4 Cups Grounds
  • 20 - 25 Cups Coffee = 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 Cups Grounds
  • 28 - 36 Cups Coffee = 1 1/2 - 2 Cups Grounds
  • 40 - 45 Cups Coffee = 2 - 2 1/2 Cups Grounds
  • 50 - 60 Cups Coffee = 3 - 4 Cups Grounds
  • 70 - 80 Cups Coffee = 4 1/2 - 5 Cups Grounds
  • 90 - 100 Cups Coffee = 5 1/2 - 6 1/4 Cups Grounds
Brewing Time How long does it take to make coffee? For 12 to 45 cups allow about 1 minute per cup. For 50 to 100 cups, allow about 45 seconds per cup (50 cups - about 40 minutes, 100 cups - about 1 hour and 15 minutes).

Hi Everyone,
It is with heavy heart that I called Topsail today to let our reservation go. Site 112 is available as of 6pm Florida Time.
Rick and I can not attend this year as we have to stay home and supervise renovations on our basement. In the long term it will allow us to travel full time sooner, but short term we are hobbled/grounded/bricksAndmortarites....blech,blech,blech.
Have a blast and I await the video report.
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good site!

I just booked site 112 starting on Jan. 3 so site 47 is now open. HeirsdreamJJ thanks for your post (and site) - sorry you can't make it. We tried to make this rally last year but poor health of a loved one forced us to cancel. This will be our first Canopener and our first escape from Michigan in winter since I retired from teaching 4 years ago. O baby we're about to become "Snowbirds". One problem - no snow yet up here. May be global warming is to blame. Can't hardly wait.

Topsail Hill State Park Map

Here's the actual Topsail Hill State Park campground map that you are given when you check-in to the park. FYI, the clubhouse is in between the basketball hoop and swimming pool. Note that this map is from a view 180 degrees from the usual campground map I post. Thanks to Chief for this scanned image.

To read the map I just posted a little easier (to see more detail), you need to magnify it. Either save the picture to your computer and you can magnify, or zoom in, (my computer uses Picassa Photo Viewer as the default) or click on this link to Chief's photos in the gallery and you can magnify it there.
