Update
Check it out, 40 units on our site map: Canopener 2011 Map - Photo Gallery
Reserve America shows about a half-dozen available sites left in the 100 loop for 7-9 Jan.....he who hesitates (well, you know the rest).
Anyone looked at the Farmer's Almanac for the weather forecast? Really makes no difference as we proved last year.....we can still have a great rally, even if it is 23 degrees at night!
In case you missed it:
I'm beginning to get hungry, just looking at the potluck listing.

Welcome, and congrats on your first post. Canopener was our first rally a few years ago and I'm sure you will have fun. It is nice to see another attendee from NW FL.

We belong to two other camping groups, and we both still work for a living, so we don't have opportunity to go to rallies that are too far from the panhandle. Looking forward to meeting new faces, and TopSail is a fine Park.

Sounds Like a Good Time!
Another year and we will not be able to attend Can Opener. It just does not work into our schedule since I already have to take time off between Christmas and the New Year for the proverbial "plant shutdown."
I remember meeting devoman and family several years ago at Falluminum (it may not have been called that at the time) and he enjoyed that rally so much he decided to create the rally that became Can Opener. It's a great example of how Airforums works so well!
For those of you who are on the road (headed to Can Opener) or able to take time off between Christmas and New Year's consider joining us for the Habitat for Humanity Rally in New Orleans. http://www.airforums.com/forums/f288...tml#post818839 Unfortunately, that's as close as I'll be to Can Opener.

Looks like there are only 4 spots left in the 100 section for Friday and Saturday nights. Some aluminum folks need to take them soon.

Sites
Just to let everyone know that you do not have to get the sites that are within the squared area on the map. There are still over 100 extra sites and are not that far away from everyone.every site is just a walk away.
Anyone can come. With or without your Airstream. It is just a fun gathering with a bunch of great friends.

Unfortunately, Sue and I (and our dogs) will have to cancel our reservation (or maybe we can postpone to avoid any penalty). Sue broke her heel, and had emergency surgery, and will be unable to travel for 12 weeks or more depending on her recovery.
Also as a sad note, Sue's mother Maude (who lived with us) passed away from bone cancer Saturday 11/6.

Phil,
So sorry to hear the bad news. This has certainly been a sad turn of events for you and Sue......hopefully, there is some sunshine on the horizon. You will be missed at Canopener.

Phil, you and Sue will be missed. Our condolences on Sue's mother. We will for her to heal quickly. Does this mean you have to become a domestic goddess for the next 12 weeks? Hope you cook better than I do.

Thanks for your message. We are starting a new chapter now, although a little slower than we had thought we might.
We (at least until last year) always enjoyed a January in Florida. I am sure that we will be looking forward to warmer weather then.
Phil

Thanks for your thoughts.
There are a number of things I can cook just fine, although PB&J is my best.
The laundry is my weak spot so far...I do fine on mine (wash, dry, throw in drawer or hang up), but sorting and trying to identify which go into dryer, which hang up on line, which are delicate etc... of Sue's clothes tripped me up. I haven't shrunk any...yet.
We'll be back on the road in spring.
Phil
