Thanks for the memories!

Thanks to one and all. It was a great to meet so many new Airstreamers and to be able to sample so many culinary specialties. Oh yes, the bourbon was good too, and will make the next trip to the liquor store interesting.

See ya next year!

We hope to meet of with all or part of you before the next canopener, but we for certain will be back at site 124 next year. We also hope that Laura we be our neighbor once again so we can finally find out if she passed her "rear-end separation" test.

It depends on how (and who) is looking at it. With the proper briefs, I think I can disguise the rear-end sag for awhile.

Thanks everyone, I had a blast. I'll be adding this to my must do again list for years to come.

Just in case some of you missed the beach, here you are. 3/4 mile from the tram stop to the beach, then a 1/4 mile walk on the boardwalk to the sand. WOW!!
What a weekend!

Canopener Video

I will attempt to answer the questions that have been asked, both here and via the numerous PM’s that I have received.

As many of you know, I don’t care much for the WBCCI. The video that I produced was intended be a parody of WBCCI rallies, the long-running lawsuit discussions on the forum, while also depicting the fun we had at Canopener with a bit of humor. However, humor is like beauty…..it is in the eye of the beholder. What may be humorous to one person, may not be to others. The same can be said for the way social events are viewed…….fun for some, offensive to others. When it was brought to my attention that the video may convey the wrong message, or possibly offend some people, I made the decision to pull it from YouTube. Whether those concerns were justified, or not, they were voiced by someone that I respect and were reason enough to pull the video.

I was not threatened with a lawsuit, there were no copywrite infringement problems, and no one sent any “hate” mail. It was only after some careful thought that I made the decision to delete the video, as I do not want to jeopardize the friendships made via the forum, or diminish the camaraderie we experience at forum rallies.

Some have suggested that the video be edited, but where do I draw the line at what is left in and what is cut? I spent around 10-12 hrs on the first production. To devote more hours to a video, that may still not please everyone, is a losing proposition.

For those that have requested personal copies of the video, I really can’t honor that request as it would almost be the same as posting to the internet…..and, with copies floating around, who knows when it might end up out on YouTube again.

I hope this post answers all of your questions.

Peace out!

Chief

Nope, not even close.

But, it's your property and your labor of love that I feel you made a difficult and very thoughtful decision to withdraw, so there you go.

I am glad to have seen what you had produced from previous years, and to have viewed and shared your now-deleted product. Thanks for your past and hopefully future work in sharing our rally activities.

Phil

Once again, that looked like a fantastic CanOpener!! I'm sorry to have missed it, especially since it was at least twice as warm as last year! I love the photos with the happy people in the doorways of their trailers- I can see a beautiful table-book of just those portraits, really lovely! It's nice to see some familiar faces, and some faces to the avatars I haven't met.

I do have good news for those who aren't up-to-date, and that's that I have my AS in my yard! The fun begins in February when I will return to CT. So, with some serious good luck, I will be at the 2012 Can Opener IN my camper!!

From Can Opener first timers, we would like to congratulate all those who worked so hard in sponsoring this event, with special thanks to Chief and Lucky Ducks (and best gourmet potluck ever!). We had a great time and plan to attend in years to come.

In response to Chief's decision to remove his video from Facebook is understandable and the decision not to forward copies to interested parties was wise. I'm sure there are many Airstreamers who share his sentiments about WBCCI, including ourselves. See you all in 2012!!

Airstream Pottery Mugs

Does anyone that attended the 2011 Canopener know how to get in touch with the lady that made the pottery airstream mugs?

That would be Janice "airdreamers" - see post #386 above for contact info!

They're great, huh? Just used mine this weekend.

Hi Guys,

If any one is interested in seeing the pottery as it is being made, go to www.youtube.com/janicethepotter . Jan has upwards of 40 videos, some of which show the mugs as they are being made. Jan sold out at the Canopener and at the Sarasota Rally.

Official dates are January 6-8, 2012 but some of us come early and stay late.

There will be a 2012 thread started within the next few weeks.
