He suggested that I should come out to the Can Opener on the Open House day and get some inspiration for the "after" photos I'll be posting when my project is done.

So guessing I'm asking to see if that would be OK? If not, no worry I'll just butt out and keep plugging at ripping out ancient carpet, gross curtains and all the rest. But if it would be OK, tell me when is the Open House and what I can bring - although looks like you folks have got the pot luck covered for the next generation or so.

Thanks! Looking forward to meeting all of you!

John,

Welcome to Airforums! Great idea on visiting us at Canopener. Open House starts around 1:00 on Saturday, but that doesn't mean you can't come out earlier to visit with folks.......everyone is very friendly and accomodating......especially if they have enjoyed some early morning Bloody Marys. If you want to participate in the potluck and raffle, make it easy on yourself with some simple store-bought items. I have a couple of friends (who don't own an Airstream.....yet!) that will staying in a cabin on Friday and Saturday night. But, that becomes a bit of an expensive alternative at $100 a nite with a two-nite minimum. Don't hesitate to come......you will feel very welcomed.....it's a friendly bunch. And, don't forget your camera for capturing those "good ideas" you are bound to come across.

Chief

After attending the first Can Opener and then being unable to work out scheduling for all the others, at last we are able to attend again, arriving Tuesday, Jan. 4, and leaving Tuesday, Jan 11. All sites in the A/S loop were reserved when Max called this morning, but we have a site just south of that loop. Yahooooo! Out of frigid mid-Missouri down to the Gulf, once again! We're counting on balmy sunshine and gulf breezes (ha!) after our snow, drifts, blizzard winds, and subzero wind chills. Yes, we followed the thread last year so we know the possiblities. Looking forward to all the Airstreams and Airstreamers...~maxandgeorgia Site 49, Loop 101

I have no idea how to attach items to the scheduled menu for Potluck and Breakfast, so I beg someone to attach us to that list. For Potluck, (after all, this IS the Gulf Coast!), we'll bring Boiled Shrimp with Bookbinder's Shrimp Sauce. For Breakfast, we'll bring Bailey's Irish Cream for coffee. Everything you all have listed sounds just scrumptious! ~G maxandgeorgia

In case the Canopener Map gets updated... I'll be in site #126! Yippie!

Have the fixin's for hot buttered rum and a tank-top propane heater --- you know, "just in case" we need some warmin'. Somewhere I have a gift-package of single malt whiskeys. Looks like I might be able to unload that pack at this event.... Ohhh - maybe a raffle item? Anyone know more details on the workings of the raffle?

Will be bringing my mug - as it is perfect for warm beverages of all types! Would definately like a second one - so if there's another blue/brown one, please mark my name on it!

Pete is bringing a special present for Levon, just because he's from Georgia. Hope it doesn't result in law enforcement being called to the campground, but you know what they say about how to tell if the the party was a success..............

And what's on the agenda for entertainment? Did I miss that part? Pete is available to sing, with or without a band, but few of his selections are from this century you understand.

Funkill,

You are definitely the first to get an Airstream Mug. Janice intends to bring a bunch of Airstream mugs to sell, maybe there will be an interest of others in puchasing them, we will see. She will definitely be selling them at the Florida State Rally in Feb. They are very coool. By the way, 3 AS from our Suncoast unit went to the launch that was cancelled earlier in the Fall. Maybe it will happen in the Spring, we are game!

John, I'm not the host of this little gathering but I can assure you that you will be welcomed!! I think the Open House starts around 1:00 and runs leisurely through the afternoon (along with happy hour). Great opportunity to pick up good ideas so bring the camera. Devoman can probably knock out a name tag for you which will make you an official attendee with all the rights granted thereto .

Hope to see you there.

Hmmm, I can see I was way late in my last post and I can't edit it from work, too many "big brother" controls.

While I'm here, a little update on the Bourbon Bash. We have identified about 3 lesser known bourbons that will be available. We have not tried any of them but the reviews look good. Still working on the list, so if you have a suggestion, bring it on (you can bring your favorite as well). If the weather is nice, we are thinking about doing this at site 155 or 157 around 8:00 Friday night (unless we are late from eating out). If its cold, on to the clubhouse and Chief can be responsible for last call and closing. More to follow.
