From a second year student, if this is your first Canopener, our first night there it was 37 degrees, bring gloves. After that it got goreous. Crisp at nights, tee shirt days. It gonna be real hard for this rally to be better than last year. It was about perfect.
Make sure you go to the Red Bar. It's great.

As can I.
Has anyone considered a 50/50 raffel? 50% of the money collected goes to the winner and the other 50% goes to paying for things that everyone gets to take advantage of; like the pot luck camp site, paper plates, etc., etc.
I would willingly sell tickets for this and conduct the raffle as well.
Keep in mind that my "modus operandi" for such an event goes like this to every attendee, "How many tickets would you like?"

This is our first rally, and we (or at least I) am really looking forward to it. Although this is rally 1, I have been to the Red Bar on a Friday night before, and I agree it is a great place!
Its funny, Susie and I heard about it from this forum. We decided to stop by in the early afternoon to check out the menu. If it looked good, then we would go back that evening for din din. We went in the side door into the bar area and thought to ourselves, hummm this can't be the place. A lot of the chairs and booths were repaired with Duct Tape. It actually looked like a bit of a dive. In Ohio, we tend to stay away from the places that repair their furniture with Duct Tape. The menu did look good though.
We went back that evening, and it turned out to be one of the most colorful and flavorful evenings we have ever experienced. The place was rockin', and the jazz band was excellent!
Count us in for Friday at the Red Bar.

Chickens, over great periods of time, have been naturally selected in such a way that they are now genetically dispositioned to cross roads.

Can the T-shirt image can be reduced in size for readability purposes (except the first image)?

I did a little research on the 2008 thread. Unless I missed something, it looks like last year at this time there were more than 50 signed up. Looks like the economy may be at work again. I suppose the good news is gas and diesel are down but my net worth is down more .
Although we have not officially filled in the form, I think AWPPC will be cooking ribs again for the potluck. As with last year, I split the cost with them and drink the beer while they cook. Seems reasonable to me .
See you in January.

I think a bigger influence on the number of attendees is the date. A lot of people can't make it because of conflicts with children and school starting the week before. Plus, there is another rally at the same rally location the weekend before so the attendees from the 2008 Can Opener are split between the two. And you are right, the economy has had an impact and the price of fuel has also scared some off.

Greg,
I think there may be a few attendees that have not put there names on the list (for whatever reason). If we get 35-40 trailers.....I think that is a good turnout.
Sorry we missed you the last time you were at Topsail......and the Dog Flies didn't! I'm bringing our mosquito fogger, just in case there are any survivors in January.....it was 38 degrees here this AM.....might be a colder Winter this year.
We're headed to Key West for the week between Christmas and New Year..... hopefully we won't be partied out by the time we get home for Canopener.
Chief

Well great. You'll fit right in because you will have met at least half the folks that will be there. So, come on down!

Hi Folks
I'm trying something new.
I put the seating chart in the photo gallery.
Instead of adding a new post each time it changes, I am going to
replace the chart in the gallery with a new one.
Whenever you want to see the latest seating chart, click on this:
http://www.airforums.com/attachments...7/8/co2009.jpg
Thanks
I'm just trying to make it as confusing as possible
BTW, welcome Dawgfan!

An interesting idea. Question though. Will you be able to change the picture in the same URL, and we can bookmark that URL, each time there is an addition or will it have to be a new picture?

Hi HowieE,
Yes, I believe the URL stays the same. I drilled down into the Image tools and found a replace feature. It just replaces the file at the same URL. (So it appears to me ) I tested it once, seemed to work (famous last words)
