As I recall, we started the trailer tour there at the last rally. It's a roomy area with lots of grass. More centrally located too if we have attendees in other areas of the campground.

fountain? wet tee shirt contest? rock on!

matters not 2me, where the food is laid out.

the issue i see with moving the gathering spot forward is TRAFFIC into/out of the loop and collateral impact.

there are other campers and cars and so on to think about and the fountain is RIGHT at the confluence of roads...

and ONE of the nice things about tucking the communal spot in the back or near the fringe is...

better privacy, less impact on other campers and so on....

so devo, u de'man... think about how or if the party lights, noise, foot traffic and so on impact everyone...

i'd look for a site that has 'streams ALL around it, so the neighbors are part of the mix...

we don't wanna become the SOBs in airstreams, just yet....

cheers

Potluck

I was thinking about the very last row or street and try to be out of the way but it seems that the sites are very small considering last year when it was like sardines in a can.Plus all of the corner sites are taken also I think from when I was looking online and those are pretty big. When I go out that way and I will be out there tomorrow on some errands so I will stop by and check it out for a bit to see if I can find a spot in person.

I don't suppose you would care to move the potluck inside the building would you? I know we had lots of light outside last year as opposed to the year before but where the music was seemed rather nice.

Last year, we used the building one time for just desserts and a musical "show". I don't think DevoMan got his "just deserts" though for all the hard work and planning he did.

Great Idea!

Carol,

That is a great idea to use the building for the potluck.....there are chairs/tables, lights, and it eliminates any problem of inclement weather. It was great having dessert and entertainment there last year. I sure hope the folks from Lakeland show up again.......they really were talented.

Of course, the Rangers might get upset if we wanted to have a campfire.

Hi Devoman,

We met at the end of January last year at Topsail, and you gave us a personal invite to the Can Opener this year. You were probably hoping we wouldn't take you up on it, too bad, we are in. Thanks in advance and let me know if I can help in anyway. Speaking of Can Openers, here is a pretty nice one.

Yeah, but does it play the Auburn Tigers fight song?

We will sign up for a site at the CanOpener soon. My recommendation would be for the hut or pavillion or whatever for the "group" thing. Much as I like (actually much prefer) the outdoor experience, there are some real benefits from being able to set up a little more comfortably - without risk of weather - with all the gear.

If there is an interest in a live jam, I might be interested.

If I had that can opener, I would be willing to teach her the Auburn Tigers fight song!

Bad weather is always a risk when planning anything outdoors. Using the clubhouse would take that risk almost completely out of the equation. Plus, I am interested in jamming, especially if it can be set up indoors.
