This is just too cool... It took me over 3 hours to read all the postings so far....

Anyway, site # 51 will be our Bambi from the 3rd to the 6th... Any and all feel free to drop by any time...

And a special thanks out to "Klattu" for your "Redneck Rivierra" posting. That got me looking, and then Devoman chimed in, and then the next thing you know I am registered on site #51 for the Can Opener....

So both of youse have directly affected the course of human events... :-) Thanks and C. U. There,

:-) Dave & Shari...

Hey guys. I haven't been able to keep up with this thread, so maybe somebody has mentioned this already. But here goes anyway:

We're in the panhandle visiting relatives for Thanksgiving and took a ride out towards Topsail this morning. We found a great seafood place just down Hwy 30-A from Topsail about 3 or 4 miles. It's called "Goatfeathers". Food is great and they have a fresh seafood market downstairs (a REAL seafood market). Prices are reasonable for the market and the restaurant.

I had a fish for lunch called “Swai” fish. Never heard of it before, but man is it scrumptious! Has a sweet, buttery flavor. Never tasted anything like it. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any in the market (dang). Gonna try and find some before we go home.

Enjoy everybody!

Jim

Catfish! I'll be danged. I love catfish! That explains it.

It really doesn't taste anything like American catfish at all. But man is it good.

eatin' near the rally...

i didn't care much for the dine-in experience at goatfeathers,

but their market fish was fresh (shrimp were a little pricey)

miss lucille's has free wifi and all the gossip u can eat!

Home

and there is a pretty good selection of eatin' options along this stretch...

since it's the 'off season' some are closed or have limited hours...

Restaurants

the broken egg and the the red bar seemed2b local hangouts...

cheers

In fact thars plenti o' good eatin' down here,

If'n y'all wants some reel fresh Guf Seefood, Sextons is yer place to be.

xelent prices, great peoples, juz off'n the boat stuff.

But Goatfeathers is very close to the campground and an excellent second choice for those of us with more pedestrian tastes.

Jez my 2 kopecs.

We are looking forward to a return to the Red Bar, getting there early enough to beat the local crowd. Wonder if they'll have live music again? ~G
