Just looking
Howdy, this is my first post, so be gentle. My wife and I just started our search. We are currently in Saint Louis visiting with our first Grandchild. We went to the local dealer and tried on the different sizes .We even changed Sophie in the Bambi 16, boy is she cute, the Bambi I mean. I could even pull her with my 6 cyl nissan Frontier, but my daughter-in-law is dying to give us their '94 Suburban gas guzzler, and that would expand our towing possibilities. There are so many decisions to make: New or used, size, floorplan, price, options, etc. We are taking our time and trying to learn as much as possible before taking the plunge. We looked at soldiermedics 19 footer yesterday, which is now listed as sold. That was really nice and one like it may be perfect for us. It is just the 2 of us and we see ourselves just weekending so smaller may be better for us. We are leaning twards used, but fairly late model, as I have enough fixerupper projects on my plate right now (sailboat, house, etc) My wife doesn't want to set the bed up every night so we are looking at a fixed bed. Anyway, I'll get to my point. We live in Panama City, FL and soldiermedic told us about the Can opener and suggested we visit. We are seriously considering it as it could add considerably to our AS education. Are we welcome to come and drool over your beauties?

Of course your welcome...
If, and only if,
You post a photo of your sailboat under sail in the bay at Panama City.
Try to make it Friday evening for the Blood Intiations...there always a hoot!

Looks like we may have one or more Ham Radio Operators at the rally other than myself. I am sure at least one 2 meter open repeater must be in the area, is anyone bring any 2 meter gear. I have a 706 in my truck and several HT's. If anyone else is interested I will see what I can find out about the repeaters.

Prepare........ and Take The Test ! There are a couple good books out there OR study on line ! This site helped me a lot ! QRZ Ham Radio Practice Tests
The Technician exam isn't a big deal. The way it was explained to me is, "We are trying to encourage new Ham's, not scare them away. "
I don't have an electrode in my body and I was able to pull it off with flying colors. Now the General exam is proving to be a liiitttle more difficult for me....
Bring on the questions and Good Luck !

Sure C.J. all we need is a Ham down there and we can chat. Any Hams going to the rally lets work on a sked on 20 meters...If you have not seen one in awhile Carol you will see how the radios have changed. Smaller lighter and do more things...Ralph ...KW8G

If it the same as last year that is a WBCCI rally and the info will be on that web site.
If you want to experience night and day in rallies you might consider it as the night. Been there did that and no reason to do it again.

Nothing lower than a grounded pilot.
Well, I want my site back!
It seems my plans have changed again. I am sorry I gave my site up at this point but i am sure i will find something.
I was headed to California for training. That all changed recently. I have been seeing a neurologist. I am having nerve pain in my feet. The medication is dis-qualifying for flying. Initially. It is on the red flag list. Until I get clearence I am grounded. No Medical, no job. I expect to get this resolved but it is going to take months not weeks.
So whats left? I was looking in the 49-55 range and they appear to be too small. Everything else in the 100 loop is taken.
