I play lead guitar and a little keyboard and swambillies and i both sing. i don't mind hauling my stuff up there if we'll use it. i use sequences for our professional gigs, but i'd be up for sitting around the campfire and playing my ovation with anyone else who wants to play or sing.
I am certainly looking forward to playing as much as I can . I played in a band until we moved to Georgia in 2006, and miss it . Of course, my wife might also like some of my time during the Rally.

At the Springstream Rally (North Georgia), NilesRob (drums), PizzaChop (bass, guitar, vocals), AlanSD (guitar, lead guitar, vocals, PA) and I (rhythym guitar, backing vocals) played a (seemingly too short) set. If we had continued to play, I don't think I could have played more than about 5 additional hours though . AlanSD and PizzaChop cannot make the Canopener though.

If a "group" is forming to play, when would we play? For anyone else (public entertainment)? When could we get together beforehand to reach common ground? Sue and I (and the dogs) will be there Saturday mid-afternoon I believe, and we are leaving Monday morning. I hope I am not being too forward, but I guess I am getting excited about the possibility of playing.

Oh, by the way, Stratman, is that name from Fender Stratocaster guitar?

love the song. grew up on soul. one of my "5 minutes" was getting to open for Gladys Knight back in the late 70's.
Yeah, i switched to a strat from a les paul when i got to old to carry the strat around. they're too darn heavy. works better for the stuff i play down here (60's and country). don't get to play a lot of almon bros anymore. that's why i got my caravel. me and swampbilles play pretty far away sometimes and Coco keeps me from drivin' home in the wee hours. i'll plan on bring my mxer and one speaker. (if i brought the bose system, we'd prob get kicked out the park) and my ovation and strat. swampbillies and i are on 123 & 124. I hope we backup to some cows. they never complain. i'll have swampbillies bring some sweet feed from her ranch to keep em busy.
since i'm the new guy, i'll leave the when up to the group. my wife married a musician so she's used to it.

Hi Carol, We will miss seeing you and the rest of the canopeners also. DW is for Darling Wife. I picked that up off the forum from some other posts.Kelly is doing great and she found out at her last Dr.`s visit that we are having a girl. So she will be around a year old at the next canopener rally.

Must be 152 as Happycampers is in 151. Several holes in the spread but those may be SOB's filling in. From last years rally, many were enjoying the Airstreams as much as we were.

This group is simply amazing. Somewhere back in this thread, I posted that it might be fun to have some Cajun/Zydeco music for the potluck to add to the ambiance of gumbo and jambalaya and other regional foods being offered. From that idea, now we have several musicians, equipment and sound systems, and who knows what else coming forth! There's just no way this can't be the most entertaining rally~the incredible Can Opener '08 ~G

Hey, anyone interested in Rally T-shirts, I did a bunch for the spring rally at Lake Hiawatha, they worked out well I think they were around $7.

I just checked with Res. America and as of 3 pm today the following sites are available for Friday night Jan 4th. in our section.
101,103,105,108,126, and 128
The balance of the sites that show open on our web page must be assumed to be SOBs.

Too bad we don't have someone on 168! That's next to the potluck site and they might not like it if we get too loud. Music may have to move to another site, maybe back row.

The balance of the sites that show open on our web page must be assumed to be SOBs.

Looking at the numbers - it does not look like we have the option of renting 168. We camped there last year for one night - it's much closer to the side road then it appears and when the late nite arrivals came, it was noisy.

Last year some of the SOBs were in on the fun and we had great neighbors who enjoyed watching us rally. I think some came to the movie showing. The campground itself may have restrictions on campground activities - I have not looked at the web page for info. I don't remember if there was a pavillion in the other camp area - but this one does not have one. If we could have filled the bottom row - it's far enough removed to have some activities there and without campers on one side is easier to have activities that may bother others.
