You can't kayak there. "NO body/water contact" and boat sides have to be something like 12" high. Some canoes won't qualify.

Following the lead from the cowboy, our thoughts out loud:

As for dates, mid to late January is tough for us, how about between the holidays, Dec 28 -Dec 30, and for those who want to celebrate New Years in aluminum, maybe we stay a couple of extra days or pick a good celebratory secondary location.

As for a second location thought, how about Jalama Beach (also a Santa Barbara County Park) is nearby Cuchuma on the ocean and also has group reservation areas with electrical.

Just thinking and adding some ideas.

Times,

it all sounds good.

we need group input.

i believe were all team players...

should we follow your 29 palms, gorman, jalama plan, this would be the last rally of this year, and not the first rally of next year. and you thought i was just another pretty face...

please tell me where to be, and when, but remember, Str8's are date sensitive and mr uwe is electricly chanllenged... as you can see, i have no problem spelling, even sober...

as always,

I won't be back from Europe until sometime early Jan, like the 3rd or so. Then, I have another annoying tradeshow towards the end of January. ( Jan 17-20) The best dates for me would be towards the very end of January. ( 1/31 through 2/3/2008)
As far as location, Jalama is definitely the #1 for me. If enough of us participate, then their group sites would be perfect.

Jalama Beach

Campsites With A View
This Santa Barbara County Park maintains 98 campsites, all overlooking the ocean or beachfront. Each site has a picnic table and BBQ pit, with hot showers, restrooms and water nearby. 29 sites offer electrical hookups, and dump stations are available.

Land near Jalama Creek was once a Chumash Indian settlement named "Halama". In 1943, 23.5 acres of privately owned land was donated to the County of Santa Barbara, and thus, our park was formed.
Campsites are assigned on a first come, first served basis -- one site to one vehicle. Only group areas may be reserved in advance. Keep in mind that summer is our busiest time, and that campsites fill fast. Check-out is 2:00 pm. Campers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Facilities and Fees
Jalama Beach is a respite from typically bustling seaside parks, yet offers many conveniences. Groceries, personal care sundries, firewood, fishing bait and tackle, ice, beer and wine may be purchased at the Jalama Store. Other services include mailing, facsimile, and video rentals. The store and its popular Grill are open daily from 8:00 am. Check out its web site at http://www.JalamaBeach.com.

Day-use picnic areas provide tables and raised fire boxes. Additional activities include surfing, whale-watching, birdwatching, nature photography, rock hounding, and fishing the surf or rock outcroppings for perch, cabezon, kelp, bass, or halibut. Many protected California native plants like sand verbena, saltbush, and sea rocket, grow within park boundaries.

I will only take credit for a future Jalama bomb, all past explosions were a different teams concept of sand castles and surf.

could you?

Bob,

Back channels are buzzing about your kind offer to inquire about availability of the group sites at Jalama, especially group area D with 13 sites mentioned earlier.

Donkeys

Jeez Louise I get home and all heck has broken loose and chaos reigns.

Let me try some sorting out of this matter because I really want to win the donkey with the cigarette dispenser in the rear. You know the ass with the magic ass?

How about the second week in January? I like Thursday - Sunday for more options. Everyone can come and go whenever it suits them. Like some of my friends, I enjoy over decorating my campsite and need a couple of days to make it worthwhile.

Is there anyone who can't make it that weekend? Either Cachuma or Jalama work fine. Let's just grab the nicest group spot and call it good.

Or go to Cachuma where no reservations are necessary and fill up the hookup section. We had the Women's Rally there and it was swell. PLENTY of sites. Yes no humans or animals in the Lake but I can live with that. Ed went in and took a drink...but don't tell anyone.

There. I've confessed all. Whew. I feel better.

Wanda
