Okay Boneheads *er* Ralliers...

January would be winter...late March = spring-ish.

SomeTIME after New Years would be good when no one else is camping except us Boneheads...um...Ralliers.

Did you say Friday, January 4 thru Sunday, January 6, 2008? That would make it the first official rally of the year.

*slams gavel down, throws away hanging chads*

Polls closed. January 4-6, 2008.
Always nice to be first in line.

Now we need to figure out WHERE???

Maybe would we go coastal? There's sand there too, Goins.
Or mountains? Trees and rivers are nice too...

Lake Cachuma is easy because no reservations are needed and they have tons of sites so anyone and everyone can show up...also a cute town and lots of wineries...plus a charming saloon near by.

Thelma?
Goins?
str8's?
Otters?
Codys?

Anyone???

Lake Cachuma

Park Description: The adventure never ends here. Tent, yurt, and RV camping, naturalist-guided lake cruises, some of the best fishing to be found in the region, boating, hiking, picnicking, and more. The Area offers a multitude of activity options, plus the option of doing nothing at all.

Park Features: Ball Fields, BBQ Grills, Benches or Picnic Tables, Bike Trails, Bird Watching, Equestrian Trails, Fishing, Group Picnic Areas, Hiking Trails, Horseshoes, Playground, Restaurant or Snacks, Restrooms, Swimming, Tent or RV Camping.

Location: From Santa Barbara take Highway 101 to the San Marcos Pass exit, Highway 154. The park entrance is about 20 miles from this point. From the north, take Highway 101 to Highway 154; Cachuma Lake is about 20 miles east.

Group Camping Information:

Group areas may be reserved for groups ranging in size from 32 to 120 people. Two-night minimum reservation on weekends (three-night minimum on holiday weekends.) Group areas may be reserved for the following year starting the first working day after Labor Day. A $25 non-refundable reservation fee is required at the time the reservation is made.
Each group area contains enough picnic tables to seat the whole group, a food preparation table, a large adjustable barbeque grill, a large fire ring, and a water faucet. Some also have electric lighting fixtures and an electric outlet. One group area, Apache Pines, has 13 RV pads each with its own water and electrical hookups, fire ring and picnic table, in addition to all the above amenities.

Cachuma works for us

Is it possible to get a group reservation at Cachuma in an area with hook-ups?

Cachuma works for me, too. But, will need hookups for the heater.

Arrrgh!

Anywhere is good for us. And, almost anytime is good for us. But, Deb's brother is getting married on Jan. 5th. Can we do some other weekend? Also, I don't think Cachuma takes rezzy'z at all. It's first come first served. Of course January shouldn't be too tough to get a spot.

Chime In...

ms. bam is taking the "date" poll.

how does the dates JAN 11 - 13th work?

everyone will be accommodated date wise i'm sure...

all group areas take reservations (for the whole area, not a space at a time)

Apache Pines Group Area has 13 RV pads w/ elec & water to each. dump station on site.

i think we can get 13 fun rigs together.

it's a good time for me, as were slow at work over this time period.

do we want fri & sat or thr, fri & sat?

the cost would be $25 a night non-refundable.

were having a drive-in movie, and a pot luck.

theme = none (yet) subject to change w/ the winds.

i've upgraded the bar. i now carry Patron Platinum, Johnny Walker Blue Label, and Chimay Grand Reserve.

thoughts?

I took a class in SB and stayed at cachuma in Feb. There were many open full hookup sites and a ton of partial hook-ups.
You can't kayak there. "NO body/water contact" and boat sides have to be something like 12" high. Some canoes won't qualify.

Following the lead from the cowboy, our thoughts out loud:

As for dates, mid to late January is tough for us, how about between the holidays, Dec 28 -Dec 30, and for those who want to celebrate New Years in aluminum, maybe we stay a couple of extra days or pick a good celebratory secondary location.

As for a second location thought, how about Jalama Beach (also a Santa Barbara County Park) is nearby Cuchuma on the ocean and also has group reservation areas with electrical.

Just thinking and adding some ideas.

Time
Times,

it all sounds good.

we need group input.

i believe were all team players...

should we follow your 29 palms, gorman, jalama plan, this would be the last rally of this year, and not the first rally of next year. and you thought i was just another pretty face...

please tell me where to be, and when, but remember, Str8's are date sensitive and mr uwe is electricly chanllenged... as you can see, i have no problem spelling, even sober...

as always,

kevin
