darn gremlins

I seem to be having a problem with my photo software so the pictures will be delayed. Had a wonderful time and met many new faces. Hope to see them all as well as the usual suspects at the next rally.

Good times...

Made it home last night after a lovely drive up the coast. Holly and I kept trying to find a spot for a beach walk but those darn tourists took up all the parking.

We had a great time at the rally. It was really nice to meet all the first timers...what a fun group! Milo and his near-twin brother John did an amazing job coordinating the 100's of action packed activities though I beg to differ on the best dressed for the golf tourney...you have something against table cloths? In any case you failed to mention Safari Rick's outstanding hole in one, my backwards through the table cloth one putt, or Kevbo's bank shot off the back of the Margi-ball (okay I'm exaggerating on that one but he did patronize the Debbie's refreshment stand regularly).

Holly practiced hard for the Olympic Doggie Paddle Race in her own pool and was disappointed that the Bassets cancelled at the last minute...something about short legs? Holly also apologizes for the double team swoop that she and Deeohgee did on those who were trying to eat Suni's delicious chips. They did manage to score a couple before the Squirt gun fight broke out.

There was lots of beautiful silver there glistening in the heat *er* sunshine. We followed the shade with glasses in hand and ended up potlucking at str8's partyland with more food than could be possibly consumed.

Good times...

Great Rally

We made it home safely following Kevin's directions for the best way to Thousand Oaks.......Ran into Karen and Milo at Camping World....they were looking for Safari Rick to offer a spare tire.

We had a great time.....if was so much fun to finally meet everyone---we have been wanting to attend this group's rallies and we were not disappointed. Everyone was so warm and welcoming---especially to us newbies......we have so much to learn and learn we did.....Kevin gave a very informative Generator lecture but we missed his "Riveting" class......somehow we got distracted......anyway it was the perfect rally to attend with our newly polished "SteSpot". Luckily Bill was able to troubleshoot our electrical problem so we were not "in the dark" all weekend and we could return Kat's LED light solution which would have worked as well.

Our grandchildren really enjoyed themselves as well......Lucas especially got into the water gun fun....Katie and Hayley liked the minature golf tournament and were thrilled with the leis.......And Katie had fun playing with Gabriel.

Thanks everyone for making us feel so welcome. We are so happy we made the trip and we are happy we made it by the big Highway 5 overturned big rig accident before they closed the highway on Friday. We knew that anybody that was behind us would probably not be able to get through that afternoon because we barely squeaked by the wet gasoline that was spilled on the highway.

So, when is the next rally? paula

On a side note...

I stopped by Ocean Mesa Campground for a drive through on my way home yesterday. The people there were very nice and the campground was clean and well organized but it was $85.00 a night. Not sure why. It is across the 101 Freeway from El Capitan State Beach and campground (where it costs $8.00 just to park your car and go for a walk). No political commentary here, just an FYI for future reference.

Their winter rates (Dec thru March) are $65 per night, which is slightly cheaper but still high. El Capitan State Campround is closed in the winter (Dec thru Feb) due to staffing shortfalls. You have to book way in advance to get a space there and the spaces are $25/night to boondock. They closed the dump station last year too, so we had to drive to Buellton to dump. At the time they didn't have any plans to reopen it.

As always, we had way too much fun, and way too little time...

Can't agree more with everyone there, that it was wonderful to meet new friends and to reacquint with old ones. I have to say that among the few rallies I had attended the past year, this has been one that we spend most of the time as a group, either just hanging out with the margi at the shade commentating the corn toss rivalry, defending ourselves as the squirt guns battle unfold, flashing our fashion sense and creativity at the mini golf tourney, or gathering in circle at the infamous potluck with great food, fine booze, mood setting music and of course light spectacular in the background.

Who owns the suv?

The bottom pic that Kevbo posted has a grey- blue suv hooked up to a newer looking AS. I think I saw that setup a few weeks ago here in Lodi in the Lowe's parking lot! Tell me I'm not seeing things!I'm thinkin smaller rallies for a few short days are a great way to meet the more recent attendee's! Looks like everyone was totally schifacaued around the camp fire! I see Karl did not show up with his moho, too bad kind of a cool old 70's rig with day glow green interiour. aLSO NICE PICS OF EVERYONE PLAYIN THE HOKEY POKEY while sitting around the fire. lol

Despite the heat (only when you step outside of the shade and away from the margie), I honestly missed all the fun and the great time we had.

Here are some more highlights from the rally:

A beginning of a romance: Holly (Bam's) and DeeOhGee (Goin')

A defacto winner of the speedo contest: Otter's speedo sporting Venetian peep

The winner of the Don Ho themed costume contest and the new proud owner of the neon yellow SpongeBob Square Pants Golf balls: Debbie with her wicked purple scottish knee high socks paired with silver flip flops..(not to mention her flamingo inspired fushia skirt)

A Celebration of someone's "special" 33rd Birthday: Happy Birthday, Kevbo!!!

Chow time. Yep, the peeps were there too.

We had a wonderful time. The best part was meeting the newbies who seem to fit in quite nicely. It's always nice to meet people as crazy as the rest of us. Since I'm not good with names, I won't mention the 1st timers by name. However, welcome to all the newbies!!!!!! Hope to see more of you in the future rallies, the rallies and the notreallyarallyrallies.

Ok I give up. I was trying to delete the bottom pictures because I wanted to post them separately. So much for the joke. The first picture is of a trailer we found abandoned on the side of the road. The next is us getting ready to hitch it and take it. But then, we found why it was left. YIKES!!! Just kidding Rick. We were actually looking for you to give you a hand. Hate to see another fellow Airstreamer in trouble.

Looks like again I missed a great rally due to business obligations. Wish I could have participated.
I am writing this from a KOA in Fort Stockton, Tx., on my way to the Summer Namm Show, a music industry trade show. I am exhibiting merchandise there. Suburban full of it, as a matter of fact. Very full...
My Airstream will be my mobile office/hospitality suite (yay!) and living quarters for the duration.
Well, I am thrilled to read about all of you having so much fun. Hope to make it sometime in the future.
