...in Kernville now...

We arrived in Kernville (from Las Vegas via Death Valley) yesterday, the maiden voyage for our new 16' piece of art, as well as my first time driving a trailer anywhere other than around our neighborhood. Everything went nicely, nothing unexpected (except right tail light's not working; something to work out in the next couple of days.) I'm surprised at how little of the stuff we put in the trailer shifted around -- really, only the drawer under the dinette slid open; everything else stayed put.

Anyway! Kernville's kinda hot right now -- 92, and more humid than we usually like. By the time the fall rally comes around, though, it will likely be highs in the 70s, lows in 30s. We're looking forward to meeting you folks then -- we'll be coming up for Halloween and staying a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, you can keep an eye our weather station (there's a webcam link there too).

(what does one usually do with the strap in the middle of a Zip-Dee awning when the awning is open? Does it just hang there or something?)

Josh, There is a loop at the top of the strap where it connects to the awning. The strap folds up and tucks into the loop.

And it looks real spiffy until the wind blows or gravity takes a hand and then you have a streamer.

Velcro on hanging strap?

Our Zip Dee awning strap has a velcro strip that matches with a strip on the fabric at the roller.. After awning in place, the strap can be rolled or folded up and the velcro holds it in place out of sight...

I always pulled the strap over to the edge and wrapped it around the support bar.
I don't currently have an awning....

Waiting is hard

Is it Fall yet?

There is still time for a few more to sign up for the California Streamers Fall Rally in Kernville.

Just a brief question.

Did you hear about the single engine plane crash over at Kernsville, Calif last week? Anyone know how far it was from the campsite that the rally will be held at?

It's a real sad story. The plane was approaching and trying to land at the Kernville airport when the engine stalled and crashed.

According to mapquest, it's about 3 miles from our campground on the same road on Sierra Way.

Nope. The campground is pretty close to the edge of the canyon. You're likely to get more excitement from jets from China Lake buzzing the town.
