The smoke has lessened a bit since the Santa Ynez valley fire is under control. And it's still unseasonably hot...80's at 9am. 80's are high temps here even during the hottest season.

What's the report from the rest of the family?
Hoping all is well,
Bam & Co.
Well after a long night of watching closesly, it seems that our immediate danger has subsided. We had a few flare ups, close to homes again, but they had already partially evaciated, and the firefighters were on top of things. However, 1/2 mile from us a home went up in flames this morning. The Canyons by my house are being evacuated. Bad news.
The pictures below were taken from the back of my house, and the front of my house.

It got a lot more intense in the last 30 minutes. The hillside of Saddleback mountain is now engulfed in flames. If the fire is allowed to roam at will, like it has been, then the entire Cleveland national forest is at stake. I only now hear airplanes, since about 5min. Amazingly right after assemblyman Spitzer and the OC firechief had a fit about it on TV and KNX1070. All the crews, down to the last man, are doing an amazing job. Simply amazing, considering how little resources they have avaialble, and no air support.
I just closed up the house and turned on the A/C to hopefully improve the air quality. All the smoke is beginning to give me a bad headache.

That sounds bad for so many people. Uwe, we're pulling for you. (community and the entire state included of course!)

Here we go again

New fire just East of us. When I saw just East I mean the pilot of the Super Scooper and I waived at each other. Going back outside.

What an air show!!!

I watched a symphony of Super Scoopers, Bambi buckets, Large and small snorkel copters. It was a fartin Air Ballet! Our house was under the flight plan for the Bambi Buckets and small snorkelers. They were getting water from the Golf Course.

Upshot? Fire is almost gone and nuthin but white smoke which fortunately was blowing South. Howerver the wind is up and the Fire if it continues will be moving South and we are West so once again. No worries.

The fire was above Eternal Valley where Karen and I already have er...Long term Real Estate if you know what I mean...

Kevbo is fine.

He's taking a break from the Forums for a little while.

He's getting ready to go to the Vintage Rally on Thursday.

We'll all see him at the CA Streamers Fall Rally in Kernville on Nov. 1st.

Rally on!

(and take good care all)

OC is losing homes in the Canyons

Confirmed 3 homes are lost. Not many when compared to San Diego county or Lake Arrowhead, but this is close to home and heart. These are ( were) magnificent horse properties, and from the reports the firefighters are frustrated and exhausted. New resources are coming in the form of air support. First air support I have seen this season.
My home is safe at this time. The fires burned themselves out around our community, which is Portola Hills. The disaster is now moving towards the Orange County Canyons, and into Cleveland National Forest.

Glad to hear you are safe and the home is in no danger.

Keep us posted on any progress.

I feel extremely fortunate. We had no damage other than some wind damage to plants, and a huge mess from flying debris. Mostly of organic nature.
I have nothing to coplain about, though, especially when compared to all the people that needed to evacuate, and of course those that lost their home.

thanks Bam for the Kevbo's update.

he's very much missed here, especially in this nerve recking time...

we sure could use a good dose of humor from him here.

in the meantime, we'll be channeling him this weekend at the prerally rally afar from his vintage group rally.

Kevbo, if you can hear us (telepathically, I guess), be safe and have fun...
and bring lots of woods to Kernville...but again, may be not, we're kind of sick of the smoke at this moment...

ok then, bring lots of spot lights and glow sticks...

channeling the greeter,

=^^= maryann thelma
