Well we have Santa Ana winds through Tuesday so this will get interesting.

No worries. We're drinking lots of beer if the fire gets to us we'll be able to put it out.

How is everybody this morning?

The sun is an orange fireball and it is smokey even here.

You can smell the smoke very strongly.

Ack.

Family: Please check in so we know you are okay.

Been up much of the night watching the OC fire run amok over our hills. Too close for comfort. Wife's Irvine office is being evacuated. It didn't look so bad when I left for work this morning. Traffic was horrible, though, with all the road closures. Took the motorcycle to get through it. Now I will take the Burb home, in case we have to split with our stuff, or in case a neighbor needs help. Dangit - had a busy week planned.

Uwe and friends,

We are pulling for you.

Winds here in Huntington Beach (20 miles north-west of OC fire) are gusting up to 50 mph, trees are loosing branches and palms are dropping dead growth. If it blows here like this, the hills and canyons must be worse, humidity must be in the single digits, temperatures are rising, maybe as high as 90 today.

The smoke from the OC fires are blowing big time over Newport Beach which is due west of the action.

kevbo/milo-karen,

how are you guys doing up north?

time

The wind is something else...crazy. My bike and I weigh about 600lbs, and the wind blows it around like it was a toy. Add sand, pollen, ash and soot to that, and it's an allergy cocktail that packs a real punch..

Uwe,

Park the bike brother..low visibility and so cal drivers, not a good environment for two wheelers. We can be up in Orange in 30 minutes if you need us.

Thanks, Man...taking the Suburban, seems to be better suited for this kind of climate.

High winds and big gusts for us. Trees down and branches flying.

Fire's about 3 miles away but will have to burn around to us. So we're not anxious. Smoke is horrible.

Got blown around in my truck yesterday.

Uwe, if you need anything let us know.

The wind here in Laguna Beach goes from virtually 'still' to 'maniac crazy' lifting patio chairs and tables turning...SMOKE is terrible...yellow grey everywhere!
Firetrucks are 'patrolling' around...checking out the fire roads and brush nearby, I think checking on the dryness and possibilities, they're 'on it' for sure, I feel rather safe but I'm packed for a quick getaway just in case.

My Bambi is another story...she's right up in the area near Uwe, not near homes, so I don't know if the storage area would be a top priority...
