If someone did get the "rally thread" going and the area that the Airstreams would be in, I think the event would start looking like an event.

Western Silver Sisters' Pismo Beach Rally, 2009

In case the word hasn't filtered over to this thread - the girls - are planning a rally. JanetB's details as follows:

Our dates: March 6-8
Area: I requested the north side with west end spots (thanks Excella3287) so that we could be clustered around a common area. All are back-in (sorry Paula!) with tables and fire pits.

Although we can't reserve specific sites, we can request them, and she said that looks like a good weekend for getting what we want.
So if this sounds good to everyone, she recommended that
one person gets everyone's (real) name and rig size, and calls to make the reservation.
Within 10 days of the res., each camper calls with their individual payment.
Pismo Coast Village: 888-7823224.
Pismo Coast Village RV Resort
The rate is $42/night. For groups of 10 or more it drops to $36.

The rally thread: http://www.airforums.com/forums/f47/...lly-45244.html

The RSVP List: http://www.airforums.com/forums/cale...y=2009-3-6&c=1

Janet is collecting names and rig sizes on the RSVP list and hoping to have a good number by this friday to call Pismo with.

So, LADIES, let's go. We had a blast last year at Lake Casitas. This year will be even better. You've got plenty of time to practice towing and once you get there, we're all happy to provide POSITIVE support when parking.

Hoping that your 2009 is off to a great start!

Wanted to get feedback on possible Rally or Notreallyarally Rally to celebrate the vernal equinox, Easter, Passover...or just being alive . Calico Ghost Town sounds like an interesting location.
The pros:
- full hookups are $25/day (includes admission to Calico Ghost Town);
- 145 miles from Los Angeles and Las Vegas(2.5 hours);
- pet friendly, doggies can go everywhere except restaurants & strip bars.

The cons:
- Temperature extremes;
- Open mine shaft danger to the Patron imbued.

Friday-Sunday dates in mind are 3/20-3/22 or 4/10-4/12.

The link to the campground is http://www.calicotown.com/campsites/1/

Any comments? Thanks.

Tim

Tim,

Other pros and cons.

Spaces are very narrow. Yes you can pass the TP from throne room to throne room.

Lots of County Park Rangers on patrol.

Admission to the Ghost Town is included in the very reasonable camping fees.

The camping area is in a canyon so high desert winds are not an issue.

You can boondock about 3 miles away where the 20 mule teams used to overnight.

Calico is a neat place to visit.

Thanks Milo. Do you recall the name of 20 mule team boondocking site? Are the spaces larger there?

Tim,

Do you remember your trip to Quartzesite? it's like that. Just a big flat open space in some hills. Since we're both Angelenos I can show you how to get there on a map.

Could never forget our first Quartzesite! Sorry we couldn't make it to the sequel. That makes the site worth exploring. I'll count the number of mules while I'm there. Are mules and jack asses the same thing?

In the Mojave desert the wild mules (and there are a lot!) are known as Mojave Moose.

The Indians preferred the taste of mule over cattle.

Isn't a mule a cross between a horse and a donkey, and isn't a mule incapable of reproducing, so I am guessing they can't be wild too long? Just wondering??

Sorry, The wild critters in the Mojave are Burros.

I think you get a mule by crossing a female horse and a male donkey. I'd imagine a stepladder or box is involved.
