We had to (non mandatory and unofficial) evacuate. It was snowing ash and half burned charcoal. The air looked like fog. So we went to the beach.
We'd like to go to Quarzsite but it would interfere with the plans of the 20 or so people who are going to be here. They'll be descending like locusts.
So have a great time at Quarzsite or any other place you might be.

Yikes. Sorry about the evacuation. Hope everything in your neighborhood turned out okay.

So feed the masses on Thursday and come to the desert on Friday like many of us who have relatives to entertain on Thanksgiving.

Or bring the locusts to Quartzsite. There is plenty of room for all at the Q...

Caution: Exreme cheerfullness follows. May not be suitable for all viewers.

So I just got back from a great hike with my Lab Holly.
We did the hills and trails in north Montana de Oro state park...
beautiful crisp yet warm and clear weather...
gorgeous views of the ocean, Morro Bay, and the Los Osos valley...
birds chirping, Monarch butterflies flitting about...
the last of the tiny white daisy-like wildflowers poking up everywhere...
and the fresh scent of the eucalyptus groves in the air.
Nice.

Despite the craziness of our economy, some of the best things in life ARE free.

Or as the T-shirt says: Life is good.

Mid-day Tuesday greetings

Bamista,

Thanks so much for sharing your Montana de Oro excursion with us, a true breath of fresh air in these trying Times. It's good to know that some things are still free.

I'm with Bam, had similar thought today whist window shopping at the outdoor mall. Was so nice and warm, tank top/shorts/flip-flop weather, just beautiful. (I did feel sorry for that poor Santa Claus guy though, he looked like he was sweating!)

Yes...a big boondock with lots of wide open spaces.
And plenty of silver neighbors.

We might go. Friday reservations accepted ??? Bam... We'd like to book a part of the desert. Lots of sun, some sand, desertly stuff like that.

The locusts will be on to better grounds by Friday.

Ron and the critters will be in El Centro tonight, then our new house in Baja tomorrow. I will join them tomorrow and then Baja 1000 viewing on Friday and stay in San Felipe til next Friday and then on to Q town. If things work out we will be bringing some "grande" baja blue shrimp to cook.
