Thanks for the offer Martha. We'll keep it in mind for the next time we're in the neighborhood. See you at Kernville. R and D

Off to the Playa

Ms Bam and Mr Str8 left Fernley for the playa at 0500 this am. I came home after a month on the road in the Moho to a bunch of cobwebs in the house but everything else pretty much intact. I'm a little afraid of going to the post office to get the mail, will probably need a wheelbarrow for all the junk mail! Debbie

CalSreamers afield

Mrs. Goin and I just returned from a FCU rally in Williams AZ. We really had a blast. Lots to eat and drink. Fun folks and killer weather. Monsoon deluges with pea sized hail and a lightning show that was incredible.

I know a couple others of our clan were at burning man enjoying there own version of wild weather.

So where did everyone else go over the Labor Day weekend?

Hi Goin,

Sounds like you had fun in Williams..at least you were there when it wasn't 19 degrees and snowing!!..we were in Old Town Sacramento at the Gold Rush Days Event braving the 107 degrees heat, the old gold panning, buggy rides and sasparilla refreshments..are you going to Kernville?

Sounds like you had the opposite weather than us.

Sadly we won't make it to Kernville this time.

We are all home now

Ron had 6 weeks on the road, I came home for a week while he went to burning man and rejoined him on Monday. We spent the day/night in Fernley with some of the remaining Airstream burners (homemade ice cream and brownies with chocolate port for dessert) and then the next night in Santa Nella at a really nice stopover place for Socal/Norcal transit. Its at Hwy 33 and 152 just off the 5 frwy. About 260 miles from our home. They have a free vehicle wash place, lots of shade trees, very nice showers, several grass areas, level spaces with gravel for the rigs and some grass. And they put people every other space if they are not busy. San Luis RV. and if you stay 6 times the 7th time is FREE!!! We stayed there twice on this trip and will be back if we are on the 5. We take off again for Baja next week and then mid month are going up the coast: Refugio, Seaside, Half Moon bay and Wright's Beach. Gonna put our cool weather gear back in the moho.
Did have one GLITCH, lost the transfer switch for 110, so Ron lost A/C at Burning Man on the genny and then last night at San Luis the other leg of the switch burned out and we lost the A/C on full hookups-----ARGH. But it is an easy fix if you have the part (* note carrying spare now*) Debbie

Wow! Sounds like everyone has enjoyed a great Labor Day. Ours was memorable for a number of reasons. I got to "bounce with my possee from the 'hood" (see photo). They assisted me (and I could not have done it without them) with providing Boy Scouts from the Nickerson Gardens and Jordon Downs Housing Projects of Los Angeles with their first camping trip. Many know these complexes as the war between the Crips and the Bloods. However, thanks to Glenn and Nancy, we made Smores, not wars.

We camped at our favorite spot along the San Gabriel River (alone) and used the area to stage another garbage bag distribution by the scouts during the holiday. It went well. However, to say the weekend was interesting is a gross understatement.

I'm changing the name of the camp ground to "Camp Galapagos". See you in Kernville.

Thumbs up Tim from a fallen Boy Scout. You did real good!

Joking aside I know more than most what a positive influence scouting can be.

I'll second that. I haven't experienced the Scout scenario, but I've seen the value of a strong adule role model with children from areas like these. It can make a real difference. Kudos to you and Glenn and Nancy. Ron

You guys are too kind. Be sure to purchase our new CD...Gansta Yiddish Rap, featuring Grand Master MASTER and Lil' HIM.

On the serious note...
...it was a little thing done by little people. If we all just do a little, very big things can happen.

Glenn and Nancy inspire me to be optimistic and to see the silver lining in the darkest cloud. Even if the silver is a lighting bolt!

Our differences make us unique. Sharing, accepting and trying to understand those differences make us friends.

Tim
