Bring your yoga mat!

I have a spare early entry pass ,or WAP as its now termed, which I would be happy to give to someone from our camp who wants to come early and help me out a little in erecting the VVV. Thanks!

Cheers!

Count on me to stay through final MOOPage (till Tuesday am?). I still feel bad about abandoning camp early last time...

BTW, RMB, the rake is a great idea.

Damn, youíre staying til the end and Iím going to miss it! 😎
Next year Iíll bring a bottle with your name on it.

Yep...rakes, buckets, and bags oh my. And those long handled pick up things. Itís amazing what you find when mooping. Sunglasses, headlamps, Burning Man Swag, and lots of cigarette butts. Last year RMB and I found some tent stakes that looked like theyíd been there for years. And whatever interesting items have blown loose from neighboring camps. Be careful about the mats you bring as the fibers in some are really hard to contain.

You can stay til Tuesday but if you linger too long you will get a visit from the Rangers. Ahem. It happens. 😏

Enjoy!!!

Hello all!

My husband, Conroy, and I are headed to BM, and would LOVE to join you all! We plan to be there the whole time, and until all MOOPing is done.

We'd love to contribute as much as possible, and will plan on bringing postcard stamps. Any idea how many have been needed in years past?

I saw that russellt is bringing an evaporator. That is awesome, and I love the extra water idea! In the vein of offering hydration at the bar, perhaps we could make iced/herbal tea... we'll think on this and will plan on contributing something in this line.

RMB mentioned that help may be needed for helping set up the volcano car...We'll be able to arrive early, are fairly handy, and can most likely be called in at the last minute.

For The Wrangler: We're in a 25' FB w/ full size pickup. No generator, no black tank.

Really excited for both BM and to camp with fellow Airstreamers! If there is anything else I should bring/know/share, just let me know!

Paige

Paige, you are more than welcome. And you seem to have covered all the major "participation" points. Super. We'll see if we can get you early arrival. I assume it's two of you?

Someone else will have to chime in on the number of postcards, but it was significant.

Hey, I don't understand "no black tank." If you're in an FB, you're in a new-ish Airstream? What gives?

Thank you!

Dr. Quark...I should correct myself. We do indeed have a black tank, but it is combined with our gray tank, as we use a composting toilet. I mention it so that you know we don't need access to the pump truck

No need to go out of anyone's way to get us in early...Just if the need exists, and the access is granted, we can be available (and yes, we are two ).

Excited to meet you all!!

We will all be interested in seeing your plumbing setup.

I'll keep you in mind for early arrival. That's always fun, you get to see the city come alive. We appreciate that you're willing to stay behind for the MOOP phase. Thanks.

The Mutant Vehicle and I will arrive on Wednesday the 22 around noonish .... Will anyone else be there that early? Zepp? Just wondering about Placement .

Thanks lots for the offer to help assemble the VVV! Its not difficult but it is clumsy to manipulate stuff alone and far easier with two!

Rake and magnet broom are loaded .

Lastly, is anyone in need of a ticket?

If I read Perry's email correctly, early arrival isn't until Thursday, 23 Aug. Two years ago I arrived about 11:40 PM and had to wait at Will Call until midnight to get in so, at least in my case, Gate was very strict about not allowing early arrival prior to the time I was approved for (same time as all of us, eg, 00:01 the day of early arrival).

If you have a different early arrival from DMV due to your mutant vehicle, only those with similar passes will be allowed in prior to Thursday. All of the passes that Perry hands out are for Thursday.

Coming early and tanks

Hey, we were thinking of coming early as well but need to figure out our days as we're driving from the east coast. I'm a bit worried about coming too early as well cause we're bringing our 2yr old for the first time so unsure how he will fair the whole week... :P

Would love to know how everyone does the week with their tanks and stuff... If you have a grey and black tank do you avoid using the black because of the heat? What about the pump truck, is that easy to use and is there a fill truck? If they are, I imagine people can use all tanks and even have showers pretty easily but just not sure about the availability of that stuff.

Last time we tented, so using an RV at BM is all new for me...

Any recommendations or stories on the best way to use the tanks?

Thanks, looking forward to meeting everyone!

Jilly Bean and I will have a work access pass through the Rangers. It also is good for no earlier than 00:01 Thurs morning.

Gate can be busy even if you do use a work access pass. Arriving at the crack of dawn seems to be the best bet for avoiding long lines, on whichever day you choose to arrive.

One strategy is to arrive in Fernley the evening before you plan to come into BRC and provision at the Walmart there, then stay overnight in the parking lot. Wake up early and drive on in!

Jon, Jilly and I find that our 26 gal fresh water tank is hard-pressed to last the long 10 day week. We spongebath and then rinse off. We are very conservative with dishwater. If we do run out (I am 3 for 3 on years in an RV for running out of water) then we hail a potable water truck and pay the pricey surcharge for filling up, usually around Thursday or so. We usually have more trouble with grey water than with black water, but inevitably we will need to dump around thursday or so as well. Again we hail a truck and pay the stack of $20's they charge. Bring an extra hundred bucks or so in cash for the fresh water/dump charges. We usually drink bottled water (we get the 2&1/2 gallon size containers), and save the fresh water tank for washing & flushing.

We will be close to the porta-potties this year. I always use them anyway during the daytime just to preserve space.

Happy planning!

Welcome one and all!

What a wonderfully participatory group! Just to clarify, you are not allowed to arrive earlier than the official start time for the event, 12am on Sunday August 26, unless you have a Burning Man issued pass. They do make you present it at the gate and will not allow you in without it. You must have your tickets, your vehicle pass, and your early entry pass or WAP. They are very strict about it and there really isn't a good place to wait near the entry gates.

Arriving anytime after Sunday is up to you and you must plan to leave by Tuesday September 4. Monday is the official end of the event but they will allow some people to stay until Tuesday to help pack up and clean up and make the traffic out on Monday a little less. You don't need a pass to stay until Tuesday but they will kick you out if you try to stay longer. Of course not everyone needs to stay until Monday or Tuesday depending on your schedule. It is nice to have a few extra hands to help take down and pack up the shade structures, bar, post office, art car etc. as well as MOOPing.

I use my water conservatively and bring extra for drinking. There are not a lot of showers (baby wipes are our friends) and there are plenty of porta potties if you want to use them. I usually prefer to use my own unless I'm out somewhere and haven't had any problems. I have never needed extra water once there but with more people you might. Water being available is a newish thing and may be a little chancy. Don't forget you can also buy ice.

Pump trucks usually come by on Thursday and you can flag them down if you think you need to. Usually I have used them but some years I didn't with no problem.

Cheers!
