Almost the last stop from the east on I-80 is Fernely with a Wal-Mart right on the highway, and a Lowes next to it, and a tire shop next door and a O'Reilys and a Scholari's that usually has an amazing assortment of assorted beverages. (brag brag, I did a lot of the inspections on that Wal-Mart while it was being built. And they asked me to come over and do some floor flatness tests next door at the Lowes after a concrete truck backed over a structural column and took that out). BUT Fernely's tap water is one of the worst though for dissolved everything in it (Look at the salt flats it's coming out of). Lovelock water is about as bad. I suspect Winnemmucca tap water is better. My well water is excellent. You leave I-80 on the west Fernely exit going north through the speed traps 25mph of Wadsworth and all the Piute towns and they love your money. On the left hidden up the hill is the Olinghouse gold mine, it's reported the old workings had large nuggets. They hide the access road coming into the highway. There's a Gorgeous TeePee looking museum as you go into Nixon, right about where you get the first glimpse of Pyramid Lake (Indian reservation, you pay them $70 for a fishing permit, on top of a Nevada fishing license). Stock up on some of the Indian Tacos that line the highway. Don't hope to pull off that highway except for about a half dozen spots, the shoulder is soft and narrow. And, the speed limit on alllll those U-Hauls is 45. period. That's why it takes an extra couple hours to get from Wadsworth to the line at Barbi's gate. There's about 3 places on that road possible to pass, but we've arranged for a semi to be coming at you there. And those cattle guards crossing the road actually do work to keep the cows from crossing.

40.777954, -119.192223

Thanks to Barts, looks like a GPS for Airstreameri and What Not will be close to 40.777954, 119.192223. Less several decimal points. Don't worry, they won't let you get lost. And you can't get into the event by any other gate or road.

Did I say Fennel?

This looks interesting to those foodys in our midst, a spice camp. And it looks like they'll be at 2:45 and Frankincense. Hope they make their idiegogo.

And here's something the post office is up to, they're wanting to gift the entire city a postcard.

Burning Man - AirStream Camp

Just got my tickets!

I have a 28-foot AS, and would like to join your camp.
What is your location?

Do you have room, and what contributions can I make?
Thanks - ManScout

Exact location is not known until the setup team arrives and placement takes us by the hand and shows us our survey flags. It will most likely be one of the corners of 3:00 and "I", or not more than one lot displaced from there.

We have room and you are welcome. When do you plan to arrive and depart, which will influence what contributions you may be asked to provide. Please go to post #201, quote it and insert your info, which will provide the whole group with a current attendee list. (I think 201 is the latest list?)

I've had a note that Mr. Pink has to work and Pink wants somone to camp with, you'll probably get treated to a full orgainic cooking diet if you take her up on it.
Mary is planning on coming out with me to the burn this year. I'm just checking out my new Quiet Honda generator, and even have the hot water heater in the Dragon working again, a new thermostat valve seemed to do the trick. Shaking out the steel for the car port "community shade structure" , see I need to do some rebar washer welding on some stakes.
And, the company wants me to go to Burney, CA for 3 months Monday. Joy joy joy

Some Golden Stake news.

Here's link to some of the early preparations: Burning Blog » Blog Archive » The Beginning
Remember, I'm just the chief grump and formologist, my gift to you is the application for the theme camp. Some how we have bluffed the Placement Gods into thinking we're worth a "Placed Theme Camp" at Burning Man again this year, one of the few in the world!! now it's your turn to plan on, fill out the abstract and make it happen. Earlier on here should be a full copy of the Application that I conscripted each of you to; read it, believe it, live it, get your MOOP pails in the trailer, and PLAN ON! and BMIR - Burning Man Radio - 94.5 FM on the playa

Hear that, first in needs to have a bribe/grateful thanks of Mead for Whatsit. I think I still have last year's bottle for her around, I never caught up with her last year. Does Mead age well, or should I "recyle" it?
Barbi, do you know where Whatsit hides out during the week?

Everybody, bow down and give T to our Placement Gods, or we'll be camped down wind of the toilets or worse

Thanks for everyone's work to get a camp.

We have an equipment change. We have decided to bring our motorhome.

It is 35', so the overall space require won't change.

Looking forward to seeing everyone again!

Regards,

JD

For example, a couple years ago my battery departed the Airstream somewhere after Fernley. I thought it was going to be a bummer of a week, but Tim the Polish guy Kendziorski had an extra battery on hand. Who'd a thunk it?
