Hey papaDean, you happen to be camping in the heart of Burnstream Court country, about a couple dozen long long time airstream burners, like we're Burnstream Court lite over here. They are usually at about 8:15 and G or so. Just saw Gemma post on facebooky something about taking over the Dust City Diner and renaming it Burnstream Doggie Diner. And, don try that at home, they're professionals

Hello fellow Airstreameri!

We'll be on Playa in a week. We hope to see you out there.

Here are our Playa addresses, plural:

August 22nd - 24th, 10:00 and John Frum at Feed the Artists - feeding the hard-working and oh-so deserving artists of Black Rock City so that they can concentrate their efforts on building their art. Feed The Artists - Burn the Food

August 25th - 27th, GDP at 8:15 at BurnStream Court - hanging out and being generally happy, shiny people with our Airstream buddies.

August 27th -28th, Way The Eff Out There (Deep Playa) at Dust City Diner/BurnStream Doggie Diner - cookin' and servin' up hot dogs and KoolAid with a big old side of sass. Come drink our KoolAid! http://www.dustcitydiner.com/

Recommended RV Park before entry to Burning Man

I recommend
The Desert Rose RV Park
3285 US Highway 50A E
Fernley, NV 89408

Tel: 877-767-3478
Rate: $32 + tax / night pull through

This is a clean, friendly park used by many Airstreamers going to Burning Man. I arrive there Aug. 23 or Aug. 24 for one night.

We've got a 27ft overlander, it'll be me, christina + two visitors

I'm sure I'm going to pepper people with questions - we've just got back from our first trip in the Airsteam - two weeks and 3,000 miles after spending 3 months "modernizing" and while I've read some of the tips about "taping" our seams I'd love some advice on preparing. Generator for AC or no? Is anyone bringing a shade structure apart from an awning? What's the recommended technique for staking down an awning or is it best to just put it away when you're not sat under it? Blimey - is there an FAQ thread anywhere?

Yes, gen for charging for a couple hours now and then. also it's good to run the a/c when you have to button up in a dust storm. or for the microwave when you nee a quick omelet.

usually no extra shade structure, too hard to tie down. you can leave your awning out, but you really have to aggressively tie it down--2 stakes and ratcheting tie downs at each corner (for a total of 4) set at 90 degrees to each other. do not do less than this! and don't use wimpy stakes.

FAQ? This is a self-reliant party!

Yep. Welcome! But do read the Survival Guide and all the prep info on the Burning Man site. Lots of helpful stuff there.

Welcome back Rhyder. Nice to see you again.

And btw, there will be a community shade structure for our potluck, dusty lectures, lounging and various shenanigans.

Remember, requirement to be placed by our professional wrangler is to have 5 questions from the Survival Guide. Print it out so you can study it on the long boring drive through the Lahontan Basin and the earthquake scarp lines and by the prehistoric Petroglyphs and hot springs and maybe stop and pick up some naturally polished gemstones or pick up some garnets. It's part of our application to the placement gods.

Hi Bam, looking forward to seeing you and the streamers, and lounging in the shade. My daughter and I will be pulling out of NYC for the drive to Black Rock on Sunday. All good miles!

Remember, you can't buy anything on playa except ice and coffee and, for us that use our indoor plumbing; there are vacuum trucks that roam the city eager to empty our holdings in exchange for 60 bucks or so. They always seem to show up as we sit down for our Wednesday 6ish potluck, but dont worry, they're roaming all week just for the flagging down.

and what are those 10 principles that we know but can't say when someone asks; Burning Man: What is Burning Man?: Ten Principles

Who is arriving early to meet with HepKitten?

Bart, Brian and I will be at Berlin sometime Friday afternoon/evening, Aug. 23. Stop by and say Howdy if you're not too busy wrangling those big silver things into place.
