Sorry to hijack but just went to see a screening of Spark, The Burning Man Story this evening. It will be released in August. Lots of footage from 2012 Burning Man with a few individual Airstreams and an Avion caught on camera. The director was in attendance and I got to chat with him. Speaking with Barts and Webspinner at Casini this spring about burning man and now seeing the film has really peaked our interest. Maybe after we get a few more kids launched and spawn some beneficial communal artisan talents before participating.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Brad

I suspect there's 70 some airstreams out there at the burn, we usually loose track when we try to count. Our camp is a littttttle bit smaller though.
Few folks know the global impact of the BurningMan energy, not just in the arts, but say the "Burners without Borders" that went to help after hurricanes, Black Rock Solar that puts solar panels on schools in the area, too much to try to think about

It's 3:00 somewhere

And now a word from our goddess::::::::

Congratulations!!!

It is our pleasure to inform you that Airstreameri and Geologists and Gynocologists has been officially placed for Burning Man 2013: Cargo Cult! Your approximate location is undefined and will measure approximately 200 by 200.

What does that mean? It means your camp has frontage on 3:00. The
second part specifies the general area or nearest cross street Interstellar.
The width of your frontage is 200 feet, and depth back from the frontage
is 200 feet. If your dimensions contain a + or - sign, it means you are an odd shape.

It is impossible to give out exact addresses because there are still a number of
variables that may occur right up until the day your camp arrives on the
Playa. We try to accommodate camps as much as possible, and sometimes
that means making changes up until the very end. Don’t worry, because
we really do have everyone’s best interests at heart!

When your advanced team arrives, they must contact your placer, HepKitten or Whatsit.
If they arrive before Thursday noon, they must ask the Gate staff to radio
"HepKitten” or “Whatsit". If they arrive after noon on Thursday then they must ask a
Greeter staff to radio them. We will then show you to your very own spot
on the Playa!

Please note: If your ticket is at Will Call, do not arrive before noon
on Wednesday, August 21st, when the Box Office Will Call opens. Each
camper must have both their ticket and a unique Early Arrival Bar code
in hand to enter Black Rock City before our event opens to the general
public. We will be sending out more detailed information about the
Early Arrival Bar Code distribution in our Theme Camp Announcements so
please stay tuned.

If you have any more questions, you can reach us at
placement@burningman.com. When doing so, please remember that there are
a lot of other theme camps out there, so we may not be able to get back
to you immediately! If you do e-mail us, don’t forget to put your camp
name in the subject line so we know who is talking to us.

So kick those plans into high gear – we can’t wait to see you out there.

Sincerely,
HepKitten & Whatsit

:c lap:
so that's the rest of the story.
We're on 3:00, all we know, with 200 feet of frontage wowing. If anybody asks, we're on 3:00.

Woot!

200x200. Just about enough room ... for me! See you all there.

Hmmmm, frontage on 3:00 near Interstellar. Wow, 9 streets out. We're in the boonies. It'll be quiet, but we'll be on the exposed edge. I hope we are on the south side of 3:00 with our backs to the wind.

Yep, Canoe Stream, the Gate, Perimeter and Exodus department at Burning Man has put out the call for their volunteers to work as many shifts as they can. They're anticipating big crowds.

If anyone wants to give back to Burning Man, there are a lot of volunteer spots that need filling. Volunteering is also a great way to connect with people and be where the stories are happening. On the dawn drive back from a graveyard Gate shift, I got to hear first hand the tale of the nearly naked guy who purloined a porta-potty truck and the hot pursuit that followed.

It's not too late to volunteer. Go to the Burning Man website and fill out the volunteer questionnaire. It helps them a lot of you target your volunteer request. Different personalities are suited for different jobs, so the more you can help them make a successful match, the happier everyone is. If you have questions about possible jobs, I work Gate, NevadaGeo works at the DMV, barts works as a BRC Ranger. Jobs that require less (or none at all) in the way of training include Lamplighters, Post Office deliveries and Arctica ice sales (those shifts fill up fast, so sign up as soon as you get there).

It's a big city and it's going to be even bigger this year. If you've been thinking about helping out, now might be a good year to act.

Why yes I did. (??) Sometimes there is a glitch where the rally calendar puts some sign ups on different days. I've been away camping (imagine that) but I'll check it out.

Ah, glassshopper. Go to airforums without logging in. Go to the Rally calender and you'll see Bam and Hollyhunter, (YEAY HOLLY!!!!!!!) and Pink and rossco (who'sss rossco? where's roossscoo! come on down rossco, you got MOOP duty tuesday) on our rally. only. Now go back and sign in, and you'll see another list of names. Betchadinnnt now that. CharlyF, coutch2th (?que es?) creech, geoff evans (ehh? you got MOOP Duty thursday) Marky, me, RMB (Proud of ya, you sucessfully did the artery application! yeay!) , usually alex, Zep, winebuff (we gotta kidnap that bunch, or at least their wine cart) and Barbi. This is one reason I don' like using the rally list for our camp, ya don't know what list someone lissssted on the lisssting lissst before we lisssst over and turtle. So I like our list here where we can copy and paste and muck it up and bring our muckey salad and cheese and rolls for the poutluck, 6ish on Wednesday, annoying scientific talks after which we'll cut short for our in house GuyNo talks till dark.

Well that's just clear as mud and a wonderfully user friendly system.
Okay. I'll start listing here...
