So any advice or special tricks for clearing the dust out of my Airstream?

Best regards,

Shop vac and dilute vinegar water, but not at the same time.

Dry cleaning first! Vacuum, dry swifter, sweep. Vacuum. When you can no longer see dust, mop with distilled vinegar and water. The acidic vinegar neutralizes the alkali playa dust and makes it quit turning into sticky mud.

Cleaning Playa Dust

I don't like the smell of vinegar so I followed up on Barbie's (Webspinner) advice and looked for Calgon. But had no luck at the local stores. So I turned to a similar product called Lemi-Shine which is citric acid having a pH of 2. It is used in dishwashers to remove the lime (calcium) scaling due to hard water. It works really great on the interior in a diluted solution, but I'm reluctant to use it on bare aluminum. Dawn dish soap is the cleaner of choice for Al.

Missing you all, already. The DWR is finally "clean" but the tow vehicle still smells like the playa. I have a disc of pix, and another of tunes sampled from BMIR and the art cars--PM me here on the Airforums with your snail mail address and I'll gladly send them your way. See you in 2014!

Hi everyone, I am winebuff(wine distributor) aka Julie from Sandy, Oregon. Just wanted to introduce myself. Stagrlee, just saw a pic on the Portland Burner facebook page that showed hundreds and hundreds of bikes left on the playa for burners to get rid of. Unbelievable!

I vacuumed the interior and wiped it down with a mild vinegar solution and vacuumed again.I washed all the linen and seat covers and curtains. So the interior is fine.
Exterior: I went to a local pressure wash outlet and I brought a large hand sprayer with me. First I sprayed the whole trailer with a mild vinegar solution then rinsed with pressure wash, soaped it all up, and rinsed again. Then I dried it with a chamois. My International 23 turned out fine, nice and shiney so I'm happy. - of course, thats disregarding my feelings about the ruined air conditioner unit on the roof which I destroyed when I drove into the car wash building.

Newbie to Streaming and never been to Burning Man, but it looks like a lot of fun.

My question is, what do I need to do to attend in 2013? Is it to late for the wife and I to sign up?

Stunning. Might show a newer set of people attending the event. The bike rebuild ended up turning into a restoration project as the cables were trashed from playa+age and the 24 year old bikes had the original grease in the cranks.

I'd worry about playa dust in the ventilation, wall cavities, wiring, and fridge systems of my AS rusting it out. I've been tent camping in BRC and it takes a few hours to de-playa my tent/pad/bag. Should be interesting camping in bear country with all my gear smelling like salad dressing.

Please check out the photos on this link, Dan is a professional photographer capturing the feel of Burning Man if that is at all possible without being there.

I would suggest subscribing to this thread and also to The official Burning Man E-Newsletter so you will know when to go online for tickets. The biggest hurdle is actually buying the tickets as they ran short the last 2 years. Don't hesitate when you get the opportunity, because if you change your mind you will always be able to sell them here.
Check out the link I just posted, the photos are amazing as is the experience.

Thanks for posting Dan's pictures they're pretty amazing. And for your help in general. I actually did sign up for the Burning Man Digest in July and have been receiving it. I was just unsure if Tickets were sold like a year in advance or what. Another Streamer suggested they might be. Maybe we'll be fortunate enough to make next years event.

We've spent time in the desert, but this looks like it takes dust to a whole new level. Haha

I can't imagine how Dan protected his camera and lenses?

From the Dan's pictures it looks like the RVs just park haphazardly as a group on the playa. Is that correct?
