I'll get on the layout this afternoon. Unfortunately I'm on business travel and may not have access to our previous plans until Friday.

I think we still want the 2:30-3:30 area out about "D" street. It's not too far out, but far enoug from the explanade that we can sleep at whatever time Burnstreamers sleep.

Re: Placement. I will be attending (have one ticket confirmation). Bringing one 19' Airstream and one 19' TV pickup.
Re: Theme: If we do decide on the MASH theme we may need only a few props: (1) a military-type tent about 16' x 20' with open sides. Can double as shaded gathering space for camp activities. (2) An old military jeep with a couple of stretchers. Could double as mutant vehicle and haul people around the playa while lying down. Any other ideas welcome. I don't have any of these items.

Great picture of MASH theme camp of past year. I don't think we can compete with that if they do it again. Maybe we should just stick with Geology theme. What do you think, Perry?

Ooops, I hit the (next) button

Oops, I hit the (next) button to go to the next page on the application and the thing submitted. Here's what I committed each of you into:

Thank you for submitting your Placement questionnaire.

Below you will find the information that you submitted in your questionnaire. You cannot make changes to this information once it has been submitted, but we can on your behalf. If you have changes or any questions, please contact us at placement@burningman.com.

Please note, you may see some questions listed in your notifier that you did not see on the questionnaire. Do not worry if that is the case, the notifier lists all questions, not just the ones for your project type.

Your BRC Placement Team will be sending out more information via the Placement Newsletter starting early May. You -- and the additional emails you submitted -- will be subscribed. If you do not receive your Placement Newsletter please check your spam filters first, then contact placement@burningman.com.

Happy planning

43. Acculturation
Our interest in Airstreaming comes from the desire to be mobile, to see, do, help, plan, to execute, relish, relive the memories. Airstreams have been caravanning since the 1920's all over the world and building short term mobile communities. We are self reliant nature, but where ever our 'streams go we build communities. These are core values of Airstreamers and of the Burning Man community. Newcomers will naturally be attracted to 'streams, and our friendly individualistic outgoing inclusive nature. Each Airstream is itself a work of art. Individually crafted, handmade and loving cared for, our 'streams are works of art themselves.
We can teach the new ones the hardships and happiness of self containment.
We can teach the new ones the beauty of mobile communities.
Our camp also offers a refuge for the new ones. A glass of water, a bathroom, a place to cool off or warm up, a shady spot to sit.
Our camp includes geologists. Rocks, minerals, chemicals, aluminum. Our resident geologists give a talk on the nature of the playa dust. This is a must for the Birgins - learning about the most basic element of their Black Rock experience - and how to deal with it.

44. Interactivity Description
Since this is playa bound city, geologists may be available to ask geological questions for your answers. Usually we have a Playa Post Card table to mail (and receive) your most exotice post cards. Our camp's main interactivity will probably revolve around our Airstreams and their aluminum/ mineral/geology connection. We hope to bring knowledge of our Airstreams and their lifestyle of relaxed, mobile living and mix that in with the minerals that gave birth to our 'streams. Events planned for our camp include a talk on the playa dust One of our resident Geologists will be giving this talk and take questions. Another event will probably be "Airstreams the User's Manuel". various 'streamers in our camp will give tours, explain how our self contained little "tin cans" work, sustainability, electrical systems, water supply, heat, air conditioning, storage, hook ups, upgrading of old 'streams, purchasing of new 'streams, Airstream disasters, all the various hope and heartbreak that are part of our Airstream lifestyle. We all have different stories and experiences and will share those and give tours of the various airstreams involved. Or we will have a MASH tent with Doctors and stethescopes.

46. Project Interactivity

47. Number of Campmates 31 to 40

48. Number and Type of Vehicles
Probably 18 airstream trailers with truck tow vehicles. Maybe 3 tenters with cars. May be 40 people.

49. Physical Description
We usually end up with herded cats/ airstreamers parked as compactly as possible but still leaving ingress and egress for later comes and early outs. Center open space for my hand waving dust talk after Wed pot luck (please come Placers!!!) and Thursday event and other activities.

I like the Mash Tent to work with, and a Playa Post Card Office attached. but I don't have the tent either. We need to get more geologists or scientific talks.(oh that was fun announcing the camp in the serious GSN and NPS meetings last year...) I'm seldom in camp with 4 shifts at DMV and maybe one at the airport.

Now I turn into a pumpkin for a while, month long geotechnical drilling geology project starting in a few hours. Not much time to think dust, more like chaining up all day for mud.

If Mash is already being done, we should probably do something else.

Trailer Park Trailer Trash always works with as many tacky decorations as possible.
Most people seem to have ample supplies of "lawn art" and "garden sculptures"
as well as flocks of flamingoes, gnomes, and all sorts of blinky, lighted things to illuminate the shiny silver.
With a dusty geology flair to it all of course.

I would imagine Trailer Trash costumes (moopless) would be easy and fun too.
I can bring Cheez Whiz and crackers to class up the cocktail party.

*clinking mismatched plastic wine glasses* Cheers!

application sounds great!

I'd vote for the trailer trash over MASH tent. less expensive, easier to put up and -ahem- I don't know why exactly, ah, somehow, but TT and 'streams do seem to go together....not of course, that any of us would fit that description!

A half-baked idea that has come to us is a Silver Egg thing.

Hatching life and adventure.....

That is the beauty of it. Most of us are already there.
Last year there were some amazing set ups within our camp.
Decor run amuck. A thing of beauty for sure.
And in 2007 some clever folks even created some railroad tracks
so we could "officially" be on the "wrong side of the tracks."
Over the top signage is always encouraged.

And there really is room for anything and everything.
Hatching silver eggs could fit right in.

Perfect.
Everyone's own personal interpretation of Trailer Trash will be honored
and celebrated thoroughly at cocktail hour.

Hi all,
Gail here, of Kelli and Gail and our new little Bambi at last year's gathering.
Thanks to Perry for the big welcome home, just like when we drove in to the camp last year. We will never forget the warm welcome after eight hours in the traffic line, then wandering around looking for y'all.
I've just joined in on the forum for the first time, so forgive my lack of decorum if I don't know the lingo. Remember that Kelli and I are OB-GYN docs, so perhaps can help on the Fertility theme. Maybe a lecture of our own? We do a great Click and Clack type Q&A on any topic in our field!
We need tickets, at least our two, four or five if we could get them. We had no luck in the lottery despite requesting 2X2. Will join in the STEP program tomorrow, but that's not looking too good. So if anyone has any info on available tix, or if our group gets the thumbs up for tix, please count us in.
So hoping to see you at home in August.
Happy Burnal Equinox!
Gail

No tix yet for Kelli and me (Gail) despite applying 2X2.
We will enter the STEP program tomorrow at noon, but that's not looking too good.
If anyone has info on available tix, or if our camp can apply, please count us on for at least two, although we'd buy five.

Welcome, Gail! It's great to see you here. Aside from the Burning Man connections, this is a great forum.

I'll keep my eye peeled for extra tickets. Don't lose hope. I hope this all straightens out.
