Thanks everyone for an awesome first Burn. We are back in Truckee doing wash after a nice, long, hot shower. 3 hours online coming out just before the Temple burn, reached Sparks at 1:30am for an overnight at the TA Truck Stop.

It was 2 hours in Exodus line for me, and I must have left a little ahead of you. Glad I didn't wait till after the Temple. Had the call back to work a few days early, Dang! but it will pay somewhat for the trip. Gotta be in Hayward by 6A to pick up a gauge, then Milpitas at 7.
Thanks everybody for making this a great burn!

Burning Farewell

Sorry I didn't get a chance to say goodbye to everyone Friday morning. I left fairly early and I didn't want to "knock you up in the morning" (as the Brits would say). Everyone was trying to get some sleep after having to put up with the guy with the megaphone who trying to keep everyone awake until sunrise! Had a good time but the dust got me in and I was coughing too much. Burgin lessons: get a good dust mask, have enough power to run the A/C, and seal up the AS.

According to Gate staff, Saturday night was the only night with heavy traffic going out. I was signed up as a pulser for an Exodus shift for Monday night at 9 pm. We would have been the first pulsing shift of 2012. But we got sent home because traffic was so light. The only night that could have used pulsers, Saturday, was too dusty to have people standing in the lanes.

My heart goes out to those who lost their (rental) RV in the fire. As I understand from the BRC Beacon, participants pitched in and they were able to finish their Burn. Such a traumatic experience, though.

Link doesn't work, is there a new one? I spoke with a Ranger who said an Airstream next to the burning RV got the AC melted so it sounded like a hot fire. Would like to see the video...

We pulled on playa early Saturday (early entry pass) but got stuck as a huge RV jackknifed between Pyramid Lake and Empire closing the highway for a few hours.

I didn't have a chance to make it to the Airstream camps (I'm at Hushville). I did check out the VW camp. Lots of cool Westfalias. We also blew a tire on a car hauler trailer. The tread came off and put a good dent in the trailer's fender. The tire was mfg in 2007. Didn't notice the problem until we pulled into camp as we had a dual axle which was lightly loaded.

Pretty dusty this year. Is there a good thread on de-playification of an RV?

Went back to the home page for video

Archived LIVE Videos of burningman-webcast on USTREAM, page 1 of 4 - Captured live broadcasts and Streaming Video re-airings

Nothing readily pops up, need to search 4 pages of video

Did a quick scan. >90% of video is driving around Nevada it looks like. The fire the Ranger was talking about was in Black Rock City. The black smoke I saw looked in the direction of center camp from Hushville.

Airstream Fire

I saw the video too. It was taken from a remote-controlled tower camera probably near Center Camp. The burning Airstream was close to the Esplanade. Flames were pouring out of the door by the time the"fire department" got there. It was a total loss I'm sure. The fire occurred about the time I arrived but I didn't anything since my camp was a mile away and dust was coming from that direction.

Sorry, no list unless you become a member of Burnstream Court (hard to do, they got bigger than they wanted, so they cut back a little. Completely understandable.) Just start looking for a new thread around April next year, search for "Burning Man 2013" planning thread. We don't make it easy, which is a filter for those who are "serious."

Do you think you might make it next year, Zep? We'll be at the Berlin Ranger Outpost again, but the Airstreameri seem to end up camped conveniently nearby for easy visiting.

Just got dialed with Perry. Rhonda (Archie) is in my airstream group also here in Oregon. Hi Rhonda from Julie Flavin!
I watched the rv burn on the live cam and it was really sad. I did hear that it was a rental rv and people rallied together so they could finish their burn. At least everyone was safe.

the huskyfans ( Tom and Sue) had a great 1st burn! Thank You Thank You Thank you to our great camp for all the wisdom, good times, good foods and helpful info. Special "tip of the hat" to our world class 'wagonmaster' Perry!

when I first joined this forum I was full of ideas. We should do this or that, etc etc etc. having experienced the burn, I would now say DON'T CHANGE A THING! it's perfect!

all signs point to a return next year. can't wait! missing dusty feet ...

Another great Burn for the record books.
Hard to believe 2012 is now history.
It was big fun playing with you all on the playa.
I'll post some tasteful photos when I get a moment.

Looking forward to next year...
Stay dusty my friends.

Not much of Airstreams in here, but it is safe for work. Our Tin Pickle is visible in a couple of pics. I didn't have my camera with me when we visited the Airstreameri - it gets in the way of all the hugs.
