Now I dont want to sound like an anal consumerist, but in a nut shell, do I need to worry about my AS corroding, degenerating or being irrepairably compromised??

I dont care about my body, I'm told I'm past my Best Before Date, but my AS! Thats different!

If anyone needs a berth or a ride, I'm coming down from Canada, just post me.

Yours for Silver

When you come to the "Lower Colonies" will you be entering via Anacortes? Keep in touch (and any other Pacific Northwest BM attendees) and maybe we can caravan to BRC and start the party early along I-5!

The playa is alkalai and will do a number on sweaty feet--it takes only about 3 days for the sandal crowd to show up at the medicine tent (if they don't do the vinegar rinse at night). If you've got a mirror polish on your shell, you might see some tarnish, but otherwise a quick rinse the week after BM will take care of things. If you want, you could spray a rinse of weak vinegar over the shell as soon as you're out of the area, but that would probably be overkill.

Mark and I got to know the placer police verrrrry well, we definitely were in their radar for hogging so much ground and it was "suggested" we put in an application.. so in 2010 we applied for an official "placed" theme camp, and got Placed!! at Bagdad at the 3:00 keyhole even!:

would you believe we got placed in 2011 too! : http://www.airforums.com/forums/f288...1-a-72089.html

and now we need to fill out an even more exciting application for 2012. And Now you know the history of the world, tee shirts available from your favorite full time Art ist.
Questions? unannounced test in an hour
Thought I'd bring up links to our dusty past for RMB and others to get ready for the announced unannounced quiz. Note that some folks like to tape up their windows and vents to keep out some of the fine dust. Nite time apparel usually involves heavy winter coats and boots with bright ElWire or GlowStick lighting. Day time is strictly enforced; dress code need not apply. Reveille is at 0600 playa time, but can be drowneded out by passing art cars. Anyone playing reveille before 0900 will be on KP duty MOOPing the playa until 2013. Bacon is a good thing on a playa morning, or afternoon or night. Bring stamps for the best Playa Post Cards. Mail yourself a letter to Airstreameri & Geologists camp, (our address in 3:00 sector which we'll know in Julyish), Black Rock City, NV 89412. You can buy anything you want in Center Camp, as long as only want coffee.

No real damage to any surfaces even in the extreme white out dust storms.
Just lots of powder fine dust in all the cracks. Yep. LOTS of dust.

Think of the fond memories when you open a cupboard a year later and find some dust that you missed when you cleaned your rig for the third time after you got home.

Some years I have no problem with alkali feet, other years more so. Seems to be correletive to years of hard playa; or years of soft, deeper dust to walk in. I found that the muddy vinegar foot wash basin got to be a problem, if I dumped it in the toilet, the vinegar would shrink the toilet flapper and I'd spend the rest of the week with toilet gas smell in the trailer, so don't put vinegar on the flapper in the toilet. Selzer water! is carbonic acid, works great and is a neat fizzy feeling neutralizing the pH 10 playa alkali. Just a few bottles does the week. Plus I won't whine if the selzer water happens to get discarded on the playa. But a spray bottle of vinegar really works to neutralize the dust off your windshield, and year round windshield wash too.
I do give a good recommendation for my Teva sandals, 5 years and still no problems. May have to finally change the chain on my bike this year, but mostly cause it don't get very well protected from the winter here. Just have silicone spray or WD-40 for the chain everytime you're back in camp.

Ticket Available

Hey Dustyites, Mark Parker tells me he won't be able to use his BM ticket this year, and wishes to sell it at his cost and shipping. I have his email if a PM from here doesn't get him. I guess he's in another day zone for now for a few weeks but gets email.

Hey NevadaGeo,
I'd be interested in contacting Mark about the BM ticket so I can join my family in the airstream camp this year. Thanks for your help! squiddiva@hotmail.com

The Tuna Guys will be constructing an art project on the playa this year to celebrate the life of our Captain who passed away in December in a boating accident off Coos Bay. I hope you will all be able to come celebrate with us.
Cheers,

We took our brand new trailer in '10 and have had no ill effects. We did spend a little money with one of the Native American tribes offering a car wash along the route back to Fernly. Then we spent the rest of the day at the RV park cleaning up.

I will say the playa dust was stubborn, and required several roof to bottom scrubs to completely displace. But, I did smile every time a little playa dust made a streak down the side of the trailer.......

Burnstream Court

Greetings, hopefully, from across the playa in Burnstream Court. This year I'm slow to get the court together because of ticket distribution i.e. Annie and I are in need of tickets. We have a strong lead on 1 and a hopeful on another. I can't imagine not going as this is my or will be my 18th consecutive burn plus our daughter is getting married on the Purple Palace!
Anyway hope you have a great burn, swing by Burnstream Court, around 8:00 in the burbs and look for us. Also if you run across a ticket or 2 let me know.

Thank you,
Monte~Annie
