It would be nice, I think, to have the central square decorated, adorned, accessorized in a way that is over the top so that it really adds something to the street it is on. "Ooooh, shiny!"

Personally, I'd love to see a silver decor theme to play off the aluminum trailers, if materials can be found that aren't MOOPy. Maybe it's the silver leggings I found on sale before last year that has me thinking in silver, or maybe it's just the influence of that bulbous aluminum thing in our driveway.

Zep, I love your graphics! How did you do that so fast? Or do you always keep a few birds eye views of Airstreams in your back pocket?

That looks like a workable layout, with people able to come in and out. I know the parking would be harder, but could you imagine parking the front trailers parallel to the street? That way the street view would be wall-o-luminum, then a welcoming gateway to the central plaza/lecture hall, then more wall-o-luminum. You'd need some sort to circle road around the sides and back for access/egress.

I would only consider mentioning it because I know your mastery at trailer wrangling and shoe horning. The more aluminum, i.e. "mineral" the camp looks, the more the two parts of the camp name connect with each other.

Playa Parking and LNT

Being totally ignorant of parking on the playa, and rally parking in general, I can't offer much help on how our camp should be arranged. But I have always wondered what it would be like to "circle the wagons", so to speak, and park the trailers in a circle, or in our case, a semicircle. It certainly would be attractive but is probably not doable, or at least, impracticable.

LNT: I am a card-carrying AntiMOOPist and a strong believer in AntiMOOPism having been trained in the Army to "police" the grounds and perform "FOD walks" on the flight strip. I will be armed with my mechanical "picker-upper" arm and bring along rake, shovel, broom, magnet sweeper to our camp. I will be one of the last leave the camp and we will LEAVE NO MOOP BEHIND!

Barbi, we need you and your monkey-tent lounge and kitchen set up, and don't feel your diminished participation is a problem. Besides, Jeff's MV will be lonely without RoboShaw and ZombieBait. Hmm, perhaps our camp could be next to Berlin?

She said she found it in some local costume store, nothing special, really. Ha!

Yes, I believe we did, now that you mention it. I haven't listened to it yet, though. It got stashed with the Burning Man paraphernalia and I haven't sorted that out yet. Might be time to do that, huh?

Was that you?

We're looking into making a new shade structure for the Pickle using steel tubing and aluminet, something that would shade the whole Airstream and extend out to the side as a more wind proof awning. If I get that built, we could very possibly loan the monkey hut. I'll have to consult with my better half about just what we're going to do.

That would be awesome if you were close to Berlin.

I believe I did. But from more than one person I think. Hey are you coming to BM this year?

Silica in Playa Dust

Most interesting you asked...about the very first post a Mr. Barts posted on our thread a few years ago was this, it says way down in Table 2 that a BRC sample had about 43% Sio2, which is less than the other samples in their table. Si02, Ti02, Al203, CaO, K20 came up to about 63%. About 8% from the dark FeO2 and MgO. But remind me to have our own sample run sometime, I think that SiO2 is a little high.
