Wow time is flying.
Can't believe it is less than a month til the dust flies and the Man burns.
Got my Survival Guide last week...woo and hoo.
Now to dust off all the playa goodies and stash them in the trailer.
And look for me in a big 19 footer this year...I traded in the 16' for a huge 19' Bambi.
Martinis for everyone!

Thanks, all, for the planning and tips. I'll stuff what I can on the list into my tow vehicle and stock up on adult beverages. I'll stay tuned for other items to bring...See you on the playa!

Stamps.
Ok its soon time to start rounding up to go stuff. The BRC post office always can use gifts of stamps. Their (our) zip code is Black Rock City, NV 89412. I seem to see them getting back to the p.o about 4PM from delivering mail.
Wal-Mart had the quart of Germex hand sanitizer today for $5.
Acidic something to neutralize the alkali playa dust on your feet. I'm going to try club soda or something this year, vinegar works but seems to do bad things to the toilet flapper and that seems to cause flapper gas (yeccch). Oh part of that smell was the mouse expired back there somewhere too. Don't bring any pet mice on purpose.
Lots of old towel rags to mop up and evaporate some of the gray water. You thought that was costume, eh. No feather boa's, feathers get loose and live forever out there. Unless you really want to mess with the gate greeters, that makes their day when they find a feather boa at the gate. Almost as much as when they find a stowaway.
Those of us with older A/S, our dump connection doesn't fit the modern dump connectors, and the vacuum trucks get fussy with that. There's a converter that I need to get for that.
I think my Costco solar panels are really going to help keep the batteries up, and maybe run a swamp cooler when it's hot.

Gifting "Gifting It"

A generous Burner sent me the 2002 documentary "Gifting It" on DVD about BM in general and the gift economy culture in particular. Time for me to pass it along. PM me your address (or someone else's) and I'll send it posthaste. Great introduction for virgins!

Parking....

Zeppelinium had some great parking ideas and I hope he is working on some new ones since our camp dimensions are now known. I am playing with some parking ideas too. So far I have 18 camper/tow/RV's at roughly 50' per unit, give or take a Bambi and 345. Some people prefer to have their canopies face onto the street, others prefer to face inwards for more privacy. If you have a preference, let me know. Is anyone bringing an Easy Up or Costco Carport? Also, if you have an inkling of your arrival date, it would be nice to know. I am doing this to just throw some ideas out there and I have no control over where you will be. I am just seeing how it might all fit together.
I can't wait to see everyone on the Playa.

Too much free time

OK, if we want to do some A&G gifting, I have 500 plain white koozies coming(it was such a deal, I couldn't pass it up). We could individually decorate them with Sharpies or if someone here is in a graphic and/or art way, we could do some sort of stencil or screen on them, even a rubber stamp. Possibly an outline that we could...or have the giftee...color them in so each one has uniqueness.

I made a wood stamp of The Man)*( out of a block of balsa wood, and stamped about 100 wind scarves with 3 or 4 images each. It was simple and fun, and you can stamp them with tie-dye colors for more interesting variations.
I have a video about gifting also. I'll see if I can post a link to it here when I have time. Some of the best, most memorable gifts are not "things" at all.
Think about it....

Thumbs up

Hey StreamRaider--
Thanks for the organization!! We have a 55 ft triple axle rig and would like to anchor a corner on the street if possilbe. Awning to the street. We have the theme camp sign and a large lighted palm tree thats part of a "black rock beach" display. As for gifting, we have pencils with the theme camp name on them, sharpeners with caps so no moop will fall on the playa-Perry I though you would appreciate that feature! And magnetic note pads to aid in communication in the Metropolis-basic is best. We are pulling out next week and going to Glacier and then the burn. Meeting up at the Desert Rose in Fernley on Saturday. We are looking forward to seeing our old friends and meeting a bunch of new ones!

Hi Summer. Looking forward to seeing you again...wow, it's coming up fast!

The last few years we've come to realize that the best, most organized site plans
rarely work out as planned. Seems to work best if everyone is flexible depending on
who arrives when and what is available upon arrival.

There always seems to be plenty of room
for everyone and all of their gear.

Nice gifting video.

Cheers and safe travels to all! See you on the playa...

Thanks! now I gotta find that receipe again and probably double it again. Would you believe my 32 year old refrig froze that stuff on the way out, and I only turned on the refrig in Carson City I believe. Still working on an idea to make a DC swamp cooler out of my middle ceiling vent, it might make mud out of the dust anyway so far. I suspect we'll have more colder weather at night than hot in the day.
Stores: get ear plugs, more stamps, maybe some donuts or something for the greeters; remember to have dirtyable clothes on at the gate. Maybe some Grey Goose for the host and it's only:
12 days until LUCY, I'M HOME!

Hi folks -

Since our Tin Pickle's shower isn't yet rebuilt (but at least the rear end separation is! fixed), we'll be setting up a external shower enclosure + evap w/ our usual pump-accelerated evaporation gadget. Fellow campers are welcome to use this w/ a solar shower bag....

I was motivated by all the info I have found on the web, and built a pump assisted evap pond, too. Be glad share.

This trip is kinda like the monkey who got his tail in a lawn mower, it's not long now......
