Hey all, just got a note from "placement", here's a list of all the camps that put in an application. Still seems to be July 1 before they announce which camps get placement.
(oops, they put every thing on that page, a few that makes even me blush)

So are we on that list?

Edit:

Answering my own silly question:

Airstreameri & Geologists
Dysfuntionally Disorganized Geology Types and Airstreameriers
Hometown: Genoa, NV

I somehow misremembered us as riffing off of the aluminati trope...

Link (no pictures, but some camp descriptions are more ... explicit.. then ours).

You should see some of the neat mutant vehicles coming through processing at the DMV. Got some way cool ones this year. The airport has their sign up sheet up.

So we are new to airstream forum, picking up our 27'FB, today, and would like to participate with other streamers at the Burning Man. I like the idea of a theme of "trailer trash"!!
Does it matter as to what tickets we buy? Stan

75 days to Metropolis! I'm going to stash my caravel at camp Make Good Choices, a Boise tribe, but I will find you all. Please post your address at center camp and post your official name to this forum so I know what to look for.

Just a quick note, I've already done signage for 2 large groups that are doing the "trailer trash" theme this year. They're not airstream groups but in trailers and going trashy, lots of astro turf and pink flamingos.

Maybe we could take a futuristic angle instead - Alumetropolis.
Aluminum hats optional. Aluminized flamingos, maybe?.

I plan on making Prodex hats, and maybe bringing enough extra to help others make their own. I might try out some other clothing items made from it also, but hats are just a natural for this stuff. Maybe a tinman suit would be fun!
I can smell the sashimi already.....Got my ticket ordered last night.
Tomorrow is the Precompression event in SF. Anyone gonna be there?

And RoboShaw is approved for bringing to the playa... got the email this evening.

How exactly all the toys are going to get to Burning Man isn't quite yet clear, but we'll manage in one fashion or another....

Tickets are tickets...all the same...just different prices depending on how far in advance you buy them.

Everyone is welcome and there is PLENTY of room for all.
It's a very big playa out there!

Dearest friends, I just got this somber note from SHADOW:

On the matter of your questionnaire and placement, we regret to inform you....

WAIT!!! Wrong letter - sorry.

This message is to say thank you for your questionnaire and what you are offering to Burning Man : Metropolis 2010. Welcome to the ancient realm of Babylon - we've left Berlin in the dust!

Airstreameri & Geologists will have reserved placement for 2010. Your general address will be Baghdad & 3:00 and will have a space of 250 x 100. That first dimension is your approximate frontage size and the second is your depth. If your size is different from what you requested, it is because we review size requests, compare them with your maps and interactivity description and adjust accordingly. Sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down. Mostly it stays the same general square feet that you requested. We have YEARS of experience in plotting final camp sizes. If your camp has expanded since your questionnaire went in and you need more space you may be out of luck. The time to have told us this information was weeks earlier. You will likely have to look for ways to accommodate the additional folks into your space or look for other creative ways to resolve the expansion. It is nearly impossible at this point to increase your camp dimensions so please, don't ask.

I see that your camp requested 4 early arrival bar codes. You were approved for 4 passes. I will be sending out information on our Early Arrival Bar Code distribution and the general placement process for this year later. Please note: If your ticket is at Will Call- do not arrive before noon on August 25th. That is when the Box Office Will Call opens. Each camper must have their ticket and unique Early Arrival Bar code in hand to enter Black Rock City before our event opens to the general public.

(If you are a camp within a village, department camp, art support camp, etc. - the Placement team is not responsible for providing your Early Arrival Bar Codes)

We are encouraging your advance team to arrive by noon on Sunday, August 29th in order to avoid potential lengthy delays at the Gate.

We want to know when you have arrived on Playa. If your point person arrives before Thursday, August 26th the Gate personnel will radio us. After Thursday, Greeters Station is up and running, and they will radio us. Just let them know you are a "placed Themecamp" and who your placer is. In fact - Tell them EVEN IF THEY DON'T ASK! If your camp is already in, we'll let you know. But if you are indeed the first person to arrive for your camp, we will escort you to the right spot!! We will send out more information on the placement process and Early Arrival passes later.

See you on the playa!

Shadow & BlackJack
Placement Team
Volunteers

And I'm on my way out there for JuPlaya this weekend, if I can ditch work in a couple hours.
PLAN ON!!
Perry
