Cool Black River Rendezvous

AIR Midwest Black River Rendezvous.

Come and join us in southeast Missouri for a great time of streaming and fun at the Black River recreation area. We will be staying at the Big Creek RV Park in Annapolis, MO. The park is 38 acres, and a crystal clear, spring fed creek travels along the entire length of the park. The creek boasts great swimming holes that are clean and clear, with sand bars for the kids to play on.

The park is 20 miles from Elephant Rock State Park, and Johnson Shut-Ins. Johnson Shut-Ins has recently reopened after being destroyed by the failure of the Taum Sauk Reservoir. Elephant Rock State park has one of the most curious rock formations in the state, and some spectacular views.

We have a hold for the next two weeks on the nine sites on the creek, and the ten pull through sites behind them. Full hook ups will be at the rally rate of $25 per night (includes cable). They are also giving us the pavilion and meeting areas free of charge.

As usual, we will have the potluck meals and great fellowship. Check out the rally thread to stay current. Here's to another great event this summer.

Reserve your spot by calling Patty at (573) 598-1064

Dates are on the calendar, but forgot them here. 18-20 June. The day before and after are being held by the park for people who want to spend additional time.

We will be there. I LOVE that area. My family has been going there since the 30's. We had a trailer on 92 acres close to Annapolis when I was growing up. My parents sold it when we were getting close to high school age. Bummer! It would have made a great rally spot now!

Sounds like a beautiful area. This is the weekend after Moraine View, and we will be gathering strength and groceries for a week (starting the 20th) traveling with grandbabies.

We'll have to miss this one.

Maggie just start your week a few days early and bring those grandbabies with you. This is the perfect spot for kiddos.

I have to agree here. With the creek and swimming holes on the property, and the Elephant Rocks nearby...I am hoping to draw more kids.

Is your rally site on the Black River? Our four kids grew up canoeing with us on the Black, sometimes staying at Wilderness Lodge in one of their log cabins. Wonderful memories of this region...and yes, Elephant Rocks and Johnson's Shut Ins were always revisited. Looking back, I can't believe how our four kids played up and down the Shut Ins without wearing helmets for head protection. They'd have died first, and then laughed us out of the water if we had tried to make them wear helmets...though today's wisdom would make us think differently than then. ~G

I grabbed the spot on the end because I'll be taking care of a friend's dog while they're on vacation.

Steve - Did you send Nick a message? His kids would have a blast.

The park is on Big Creek, not the Black river. The river is not that far away. the park is very close to Lesterville and Annapolis. Of all the places people will want to see, the farthest away will be the Elephant Rocks.

It does sound like a perfect spot for kiddos. The question is, how is it for 61 year old grandparents, one of whom has this knee issue still pending resolution........

Maybe next year.

Elephant Rocks and Johnson shut Ins are not good for knee issues, but you just pull out a lawnchair and send them with grandpa.

I sent him an invite on the Face Book rally page, but not on AIR. Perhaps you could send him a message up at work and see if he would have interest.

You're funny. Grandpa is very quick on his feet and wonderful with the babies. We'll just have to see.

Sounds like a great, spontaneous time. maccamper crew of 2 will be about 3 1/2 hrs north of you all that weekend. We have a commitment in Mexico, MO and will be staying at Lazy Day Campground near Montgomery City/Danville.

We're in 106. Guess it's going to be a short trip for Roger to make us breakfast every day.

Just kidding of course....or am I?
