Won-durful Wet Wal-ley!

Thanks again Janet and Gary for another fun time. Thanks also to all the others who pitch in to make theses get togethers so sucessful

Enjoyed visiting with the 'usual suspects' and meeting new ones. Mel... I was coveting your blue boots as we drove out!!!

Had a wet trip home, but the sun is out and the poor old girl is dripping and drying out. Had to pull back the grass mat flooring to dry out from the front window leak....better finish the window gaskets before the snow falls....
Hope all made it home safe, until next time.....
Patsi ( Jerry says thanks too ...he doesn't post)

Happy memories and new friends. Thank you Janet and Gary!! Hope you get to go home and enjoy a bit of solitude after all the work you did to make it a wonderful weekend for all of us!

Maybe next year I'll learn a few more names. A safe trip home to all!

hello bashers!

janet and janet's husband pulled out about 2 hours ago...

here's to a safe trip home from a fantastic rally!

there may have been a little moisture from the sky,

but it didn't dampen our rally spirits...

so many new faces, and new a/s owners who

blended perfectly with a bunch of old friends and travel mates.

what a great time we had!

the sun is now out...

really, no really it is!

hope 2 c u all again camping soon.

cheers and karma all 'round the northwest.

2air'

it is true, a crooked judge tossed me from the cookoff...

no matter, as the 'fungi' we tasty and i know where this judge lives...

btw there IS free black tank dumping at his house...

address, and maps to follow.

Fantastic Rally!

Thanks Janet and Gary - we had a great time and are exhausted today from all the fun this weekend. So fun to see so many familiar faces and meet new people too, but I have to admit I was a little overwhelmed by all the shiny aluminum in our end of the park!

We had a nice rainy drive home and all of our gear is currently drying out on our deck. Glad to hear the sun's shining there now at least.

Thanks to all for making our first time camping with Boris such a special event.

Adding my thanks to Gary & Janet (and all the rest who helped). Great time. Maybe next year we should move the bash to November and really fool the weather gods. Serious rain all the way to Canby where I parked in my parents yard overnight, then better weather today for the last part of the trip. Trailer and car are now home in their garages and resting. Me too. Darol

Thanks to everyone for making my first rally so much fun... I told my friends I was in 'Airstream Heaven'. I got blank stares (they really don't understand). I loved seeing all of the trailers and feel inspired (if not slightly intimidated!) to get to finishing mine.

I am still on the coast, staying at Salishan for another night (did you notice my trailer in the parking lot as you drove by?) and can confirm 2airs report that the sun is shining!

Another Bash in the rear view mirror. We are still on the road, just pulled out of the Camping world in Portland. We decided to pull over after dozens of cars passed and waved frantically pointing to our back end.... it seems that there were some empty lasagna pans tied to our back bumper, dragging along on the road. Now I wonder who did that....?

Things I learned on this trip:
  • Park the shiny trailers together, it makes the not-so-shiny trailer owners edgy when they get too close.
  • Have an archetect design the canopy city so as to maximaze the available dry seating space.
  • Delegate all water drainage issues to someone else - this year we got lucky and had a city planner along who managed to figure out how to drain the rally site of 4 inches of standing water - and the convince some one else to do the digging.
  • Camper kareoke should be avoided at all costs - most especially when the only canned music availalbe is Johnny Cash. Send cash NOW if you don't want your names and pictures posted.
  • Lasagna judging is not for the faint hearted. The volunteer judges origianlly volunteered becasue they thought it was a way to ensure first crack at the buffet line... when they actually had to taste 20 different kinds.... well, they got a little surly. Gluttony isn't all it's cracked up to be.
  • The name tag contest also seemed to be rigged, (mine didn't even place...) and I found it somewhat suspicious that the lead judge also had an entry of his own.
  • Folks in the pacific northwest are not daunted by a little weather - they showed up with canopies and gortex and we were warm and dry. A few lucky bashers are still at the beach. Have a great week - see you next time.

All I really need to know about Airstreams . . . I learned at my first Bash:
  • I may be the worst photographer ever - especially in the the rain!
  • It is impossible to capture the look and feel of 70+ Airstreams in one campground -- when the campground is beautifully wooded and spread out!
  • Airstream owners like to sing Johnny Cash at the top of their lungs . . . to no one in particular
  • Lasagna really can be made in 28 different ways . . .
  • Airstreams come in different colors!
  • Embrace Pink Flamingos . . . . or be totally out of it!
  • There is some connection between Airstreams and Pumpkins but I never figured that one out!
  • Airstream owners like flags . . . our son called them Airstream Embassies
  • If you want good weather, don't hold a rally near Cape Foulweather!
  • If you own an Airstream you have to own a dog or two or three
  • Airstreamers can be so helpful -- my husband ran around with a pencil and paper taking notes, that is when he didn't have a glass of wine!
  • 2air' is even more fun and interesting in person!
  • Woodinville Bashers can do a caravan -- even if its only two Airstreams for the last 2 hours of the drive!
  • Janet is truly the Hostess with the Mostess!
Thank you Janet, Janet's Husband and everyone else who made our first Bash such a great time!! Hope to see you next year!

Thank you Janet and Gary and everyone who helped!

Greg and I had a great time and look forward to another rally. Everyone was very welcoming to two more newbies in the group and we both really appreciated everyone's advice. Greg dubbed it Airstream University.

I hope to post pictures to my Flickr site soon. I'll share the link when I do. FreshAir44 - your pictures are fabulous.

You all are the best!

Cheers,
~Lisa (and Greg - Kapn Karrot)

Beverly Beach Bash

Great Bash, Thanks too Janet, Gary and helpers.
Not even rain could spoil the good company and interesting Airstream + the Pace Arrow.
See you next year I hope.

Thanks! I almost left them at home, but was sure glad I didn't when we had to pack up in the rain. I wore them on the beach, too - important note: the boots are not so effective if the waves you're standing in are higher than the boot tops. Guess that was just a lesson I had to learn the hard way.

Well I have to disagree with freshair44's label of worst photographer- here's one of the 3 rally shots I took, the other two are worse .

And here are the others, not rally shots (except one) but worth passing on- I hope! [First: camping at "Arizona Beach", just south of Port Orford, right on the ocean- awesome!]

Wow!!

What a great time!!!
First many thanks to Janet, you have done an amazing job all around. I am sure we dont know 90% of your efforts put into this.
Next thank you to anyone who listened to an aluminum newbie ask 2001 questions about everything Airstrream ( I was in a panic coming down {1st timer jitters} and everyone made it such a great experience).
We enjoyed taking 2nd prize in the name tag contest...I can't say it was rigged, maybe some short term memory issues...
It was great to meet faces from the forum and put the two together.
Kudos to the lasagna makers. That was the most incredible assortment of lasagnas ever!
I am attaching a picture of someones AS in F loop, not mine, but a picture I thought you might like.
Your new friends,
Frank and Leslie (and Tootsie and Murphy)

PS- Murphy liked meeting several of his Boston Terrier cousins.

Hooray for Pink Flamingos!
