A couple years ago I put a new Dexter under my Caravel, then immediately headed on a trip to OK and back! It's been smoooooth sailing ever since!

We're usually a pretty dog-friendly group. Bring them along if they're well behaved. I'm bringing ours

Hello

Hi!

This is the Kapn's wife - Lisa. I am very excited to meet all of you. Pity it is a month and a half away. I've enjoyed this thread so far and will be thinking of food ideas to contribute to the party. I am happy to help out in any way. Now, to come up with something for the name tag contest...

See all of you soon! Anyone else traveling from Eugene/Springfield?

Cheers,
~Lisa

Hello to all the new folks who have posted recently! We have a lot of brave new souls coming for the first time! Couldn't have chosen a better rally to try for the first time! Remember, we will all be there rain or shine! (Last year it snowed on us on the way home...)

Looking forward to meeting you there. Congrats on your new coach. You'll have to tell us the story behind you're acquisition of the Airstream.

Aaron
I know that there are many fascinating stories of Airstream acquisition.

Adventures which led to other adventures.

Stories of doggedly bringing these silver beauties back from the grave with copious amounts of pure elbow-grease, sacrifice, and love.

There are many of these wonderful stories and I always enjoy reading them.

But mine is not one of them.

I just went down to George Sutton and bought the thing.
Since I live in Eugene, it was at least a short trip.
I spent a lot of money doing it.
But I am still glad that I did.

Lest you think that I am completely boring, I do wish to assert that I probably still have some interesting stories to tell (one or two).

not 2 worry 'karrot...

this rally is an ecumenical all-luminum assembly...

so we join together in basher harmony 2 make fun of...

the new ones and the old ones...

the finished ones and the over done ones...

the shiny ones and the dull ones

the smooth ones and the lumpy ones...

the short ones and the long ones...

the loose ones and the tight ones...

the flat ones and the over inflated ones...

those that are draggin and those that are braggin...

of course we also make fun of the trailers...

just don't make fun of the raccoons...

without reinforcements.

from the university of california guidelines on raccoon management...

making fun of or insulting raccoons...
A variety of materials, gadgets, and devices designed to make fun of. or insult raccoons and other wildlife are on the market. These include flashing lights, sound-producing devices, and water-squirting units, all of which can be activated by silly humans. in addition mace, radios, scarecrows, and flags and windmills that spin or flutter in the wind and pink flamingos have been used. Unfortunately, none of these are very effective and, at best, may only serve to tick them off, recruit nearby raccoons, or make human eyes water. after a while the raccoons seem to ignore all insults, having learned that they present no real threat.

cheers

I am also a newbie in the F loop, and I will be camping with my two boys for the first time (without their mother, that is). It will be interesting to see how it goes. I used the camper for the first time two nights ago, and things went great. I'm hoping for another good trip next week, and then I'll have to wait for the end of September. Looking forward to it.

Lisa,

You'll have a good time at the rally. BB II was our first rally 2 years ago. We are also in Eugene and have a 2004 19' CCD.

I have several concerts that week with the Eugene Symphony, so we may come out Saturday just to visit!

Brad

A new axle, that sounds like a good idea. It is on our list of 'to-do's' as well. Yeah, we're bringing the pooches. Most state parks in Oregon are pretty dog friendly. And we always haul all of the kids along, even the fury four-legged ones--unless we are flying . It's a little more work with the dogs...not always as relaxing. But I figure that they need an outing once in a while as well.

I'm wondering if I should bring my dog - will you guys be bringing yours?

I'm sure that you do have some good stories. Afterall, you did buy an Airstream, as opposed to SOB. (Not to say that other trailers are not as nice--/I guess I just have an affinity for aluminum.) That's a good story in itself!

Racoons..."they present no real threat." I'm not so sure....On one recent camping trip they absconded with a backpack full of our dog's toys, kibble, and dog bones. We haven't seen it since!

Actually there was a news story within the last week or so about a nice animal-loving mom who had to choke out a raccoon after it attacked her small child. If I remember correctly it was rabid (the raccoon, not the mom or kid).
