Beachstream 2010
For those of you who may be suffering a bit of remorse for having missed this year’s Canopener……here’s a chance to redeem yourself. For those that did attend, here’s chance to have another great time at the same venue. What started out as a casual end-of-Summer get-together with friends has now blossomed into “BEACHSTREAM 2010.”
Location: Topsail Hill Preserve State Park, Florida
Dates: Friday/Sep 3rd – Sunday/Sep 5th
We will follow the same rally format as Canopener with a few twists.
Friday is arrival/meet & greet/possible dining out (to be determined)
There will be a ‘happy hour” each evening after dinner, either at the Clubhouse (weather dependent) or at a volunteer host campsite
Saturday will include a Beach Party…..no Open House
Saturday night will be the potluck dinner night
There will be no raffle
Sunday morning can include a potluck breakfast at the Clubhouse….if, enough folks are interested
For those who are not driving home on Labor Day (Monday/Sep 6th), the party will continue. Jenn and I will be there for four nights, and others the whole week.
Some very important things to remember, if you’re considering attending: - Topsail fills up early for the Labor Day weekend. It is imperative that you make your reservations NOW. All of the pull-throughs in the “100” section are already reserved.
- The weather is a bit unpredictable at this time of the year, and will bear close monitoring. It will still be a bit warm….and muggy….but, that’s what the beach is for.
Contact me either via PM, or post here, with any questions.
Hope to see you there!
Ron

This is a state park just east of Destin on Hwy 30A. Beautiful place.

Here is a link to the state park official site:

This link will give you pics of each individual campsite:

This is a great park.....it was commercial before the state purchased it. Has all the amenities but wifi....and, they're working on that. Hard tent, soft tent, pop-up, Prevost......all are invited. During our past Canopener event we had one determined young lady, who still has a bit more to finish on her Airstream, spend the weekend in her SUV.......in 23 degree temps.....talk about fortitude.
If you want to see how much fun we had, in spite of the weather, take a look at this YouTube video:

Brad,
Sure hope you folks can make it.....keep an eye on the reservations....sites will soon start to disappear. Even if you had to cancel, Reserve America only charges $10.
Michael,
Great news! Haven't seen you since Canopener '07. I'll trade some adult beverage for some Burning Man stories!

AWPPC (Wes and Peggy) never post here but have already booked. The are in 131 arriving Friday. I can't sign the RSVP for them and I doubt they will.

What Chief means by "unpredictable" weather is, of course, tropical storms. (We don't like to use the "H" word in this part of the country.) And be sure to bring plenty of bug spray! But we live too close to pass up Annette's Bloody Marys, so we'll be there- site 126.

Hmmm, the advertising piece says "happy hour" every evening. Saturday morning is a bit before evening but I'm game. I seem to recall something about these Bloody Mary's in the Can Opener 2010 thread. Tell me pilgrim, what do I have to look forward too?

What pressure? What else would you and Mr. Rivet want to do for Labor Day weekend? Easy decision.

No pressure.....but, you know our party won't be complete with a couple of missing rivets!
Sandy....Annette's bloody marys would really go great with some of your delicious chicken enchilada dip. (hint, hint, hint)
Greg...see what happens when you miss a Canopener....you lose that intuitive edge. Saturday morning bloody marys, followed by a beach party, followed by a pot luck dinner, followed by an after dinner happy hour.....what else would one want to do for Labor Day weekend. I may need to get in a nap in somewhere.

Reservations
The back two rows of the 100 loop are taken.....still spaces left in the middle rows, and along the side....not that I'm trying to rush any decisions, but.........
