Let's keep an eye on spring break..might be quite crazy down there during that time.

Cloud55,
It's a WDAA ( wildly disorganized Airstream Affair). Meaning that you do not need to make reservations, deposits, arrangements, or anything else for that matter. Just let us know whenever you know if you can go, so we can look out for you. San Felipe's motto is 'No Bad Days".

Is it March or April?

We are going to stay longer and want to make reservations at another campground north of town. Have you settled on the dates? We did take the "Thing" exploring and found "Campo Lobos" at km 9 -- it said private property and listed 3 peoples names so we did not go down the road. We also found Rancho Punta Estrella at km 12, which you said was south of the camping spot. Did we find the right spot or miss it? I have some awesome sunset pictures from last week down there that I will try and post in a few days.

I think you missed it. The sign is actually ( hmmm, was there last time we went down there) on the left side of the road. Rancho Punta Estrella is on the right side of the road. This when going South.

km12 sounds about right, though.

Will you stay at the campground north of town the entire time, or stay with us and then move north when everybody leaves?

I am actaully not opposed to trying another site. As long as it's not full of dirt bikes and atv's. Most of the places north of town get really crazy, with all sorts of motor vehicles disturbing your peace and fouling the air with 2-stroke stink.

Which place did you have in mind?

We will stay with you and then move up north. We are getting ready to start building a house at El Dorado Ranch--hopefully it will be started by then...and the campground does unfortunately get a little crazy with ATVs, etc. Have you decided March or April?

El Dorado Ranch is very nice. We toy with this idea every time we go down there. Courtesy parking??

We're still waiting for time-off approval from Didi's work. She will write another e-mail today to hopefully nail down the March dates that are in the Forum Rally calendar. Thanks to all for their patience.

We may be interested as well depending on the dates. We used to go down there every year for years but it has been at least 5 or more years since. We have a 56 Safari and live in San Diego and have wanted to go to San Felipe so will see if we can fit it in.

We have targeted March 15-19 2006 for this event. It is still pending on my wife's vacation approval from her work.
Of course you're welcome to join.

I was just informed that Didi's office has approved the time off for March 15 through 19. April would not work, as they have a year end thing going on.
Our new forum Rally calendar allows for people to sign in, and see who else is signed up already. Click on Rally Calendar in the left column, and select March 2006, then click on Forum Rally San Felipe. There is a place to sign up from there.

Wednesday night?

Are you going to try and stay in Desert Hot Springs again? and if so what time would you leave in the morning. We are scheduled to work that day (24hours) so may have to get creative with our rendezvous. Can wait to get there!!

Great to have you guys on board!
We have talked about having a rendevous spot closer to the border, but that's open for discussion. DHS may work better for some than others, so we could even have 2 rendezvous spots with 2 separate 'wagon masters', and all make it in on 'the day'.
I'm going to be jammin' to get the new '58 FC reno'd for the trip. This will be the 3rd trailer we will have towed to Punta Estrella!

We can do whatever. The only thing that is NOT recommended is driving between Mexicali and San Felipe during the night. There are simply too many road hazards, like cows sleeping on the warm tarmac, or farm/ranch vehicles going 10mph without any lights.
One of us can meet you at the arches in San Felipe, if you need to be late, and escort you, or even wait for you on the red/white/blue side of the border at Calexico. Simply let us know what works for you, and we will try and make it happen.

Sure, whichever works. Murray and I can hang out with the Federales that lurk right around the corner from the Airport turnoff.

What are the restrictions on bringing a travel trailer down to Baja.

Another website states for Baja:

"No permits required for recreational or boat trailers unless they exceed 8 feet in width or 40 feet in length. Obtainable only in Tijuana."

Do you find this to be the case, or is it dated information?

Have not heard of this restriction. I see Mohos and toy haulers down there all the time, definitely wider than 8ft.
