We just got back this afternoon, and are already thinking of our next trip.
str8strm, towster, and uwe caravenned down to the beach on Wednesday, Creampuff joined us on Thursday afternoon.
The caravan went well, without any problems. The Federales were mostly decorative this time around, we were not searched or otherwise delayed at all.
I will post some pictures as soon as I get them re-sized.

Early Light

A sunrise over Eastern water is a strange sight for a West Coast guy. The quality of the light is amazing. Probably a combination of the desert tones and the reflection off the water.

Martinis!

Vince and Virginia hosted a fabulous little martini party/cocktail hour Saturday afternoon. Their 69 Globetrotter makes an excellent Martini lounge. Vince rocks on the shaker!
We have your humble narrator taking the picture, then l to r Ron, Murray, Virginia, Vince, and Debbie.

The temps were unusually cold during this trip. A campfire was a welcome place to spend an evening with friends. "One match" Murray got it lit within seconds, if not minutes.
The potluck turned out great, for an impromptu affair.

The pictures are beautiful. Looking at your shiny Overlander makes me want to go outside and polish.....

on second thought, I need another margarita first.

Great Pics!

Uwe and All,

Boy those are nice pics! It's great to hear that you guys had a fantastic trip with no mishaps. I am jealous and will some day join you all. Baja is a must. And the trailers look so nice on that beach. Hope to hear all about it this fall at the Lake San Antonio NorCal Rally if thats far enough south for you.

You will need lots of Margaritas before, during, and after polishing.

Lake San Antonio is great. I have camped there before. Schedule permitting, we would love to join you.

Uwe, looks like another fantastic trip for you to Baja ! Thanks for posting the pictures. I too would like to find the time to head down to this wonderful location, especially after Rodger shared his photos with me at the Pismo rally last fall. Jeff

Jeff,
It is quite far for you NorCal guys, but not impossible. It will take you 2 days to get there, and 2 days back.I can do it in 6-7 hours from Orange County in one swoop.
there's talk about them closing this beach for residential development. I am going to stay in touch with the owners on this.

Uwe,

Baja is definitely on our must-see list. My wife retires next January, so if there is going to be another trip to Baja next spring, I am quite sure that we will come and not just for a couple of days but likely somewhat longer so we can travel further down for a week or two.

We have two small dogs. I wonder if that might be a problem crossing the border in either direction. One has all his shots but the other cannot because of a rare disorder that makes rabies shots a serious health risk.

I know that there is a book or two about RV travel in Baja. Perhaps I'll look to that for travel guidance. Is anyone familiar with those books and whether they are worthwhile?

I do not think it is a problem. I have crossed with a dog before, no one even asked about it.
We had 4 dogs and one cat on this trip. Maybe someone can enlighten us on the border situation.

I have several of them, and while they're all good, nothing beats personal experience. The books area very good prep for things to come, though.

Uwe, I have made several trips to El Centro from home in 8.5 hours to visit my inlaws, a few times a year. How long is the drive time from El Centro to San Felipe?
