The price per night is $8 on Friday through Sunday but if I'm not mistaken, seniors camp for $4 from Monday through Thursday.

Oops, I thought that whole other area had electric.

Steve, we do know this park and loop haven't been closed for any reason, right?

Well, I looked it up, and all seems to be well. No reservations taken, but for the group site and pavilion.

We pulled into a favorite park in western Illinois last pm, to find the road under construction with a "road closed" sign to the side. Taking a liberal interpretation of the placement of the sign, we squeezed through and into a site.

We are, too.

Are watching the weather, hoping for reasonable temps and no rain.

Right now it's looking like temperatures will be in the low 60s during the day with 40s overnight. That's a bit on the cool side but should be very pleasant campfire weather.

Now is a good time to check the water level in your batteries and top off with distilled water, then get them charging so they're topped off for this weekend.

I picked up a pork butt this weekend to smoke for the rally, so for Friday night's potluck we'll have pulled pork sandwiches and whatever sidedishes others would like to bring.

For Saturday night's potluck I'm planning to bake a pineapple upsidedown cake in the Dutch oven.

There will be a lot of folks at the campground already on Thursday, so if anyone is interested in throwing together a potluck that night, we can do that too. I can do cheesy potato casserole in the Dutch oven for that one.

Anyone see a Dutch oven theme here? Back to the Basics.

I'm going to bake a large batch of chocolate chip cookies and we're going to roast hot dogs/brats over a fire Thursday night, haven't planned too much beyond that. Have to keep things kid-friendly for the grands who will be along.

We are also planning on doing most cooking in our Dutch Oven----why not?---and going to pull out the pie irons.

Dragging out the cold-weather sleeping bags, too. Nothing worse for them than being cold at night!

Other than fairly slight chances of rain, looks to be perfect weather for this kind of camping. Always best when you can keep the fire going all day.

Is there wood available around there? I can bring some, but I have to limit it so I don't drag butt on the trip there. I guess we need to plan food too, lol. And blue tank. Can't wait to see everybody!

If this year is the same as the last two, we will be the first this year to use this campground.

We have found abundant fallen tree limbs to add to our firewood----some we drag to the fire and some that are dragged by Duncan, Steve's yellow lab. Duncan likes to chew on them, we humor him for a bit and then toss them on the fire so he'll go get some more!

We have two large bags of firewood to bring. Steve will bring some and I suspect mcair will as well. With what is on the ground, if we all pitch in with wood, we should be good for fires.

Gong to be fun!

I did miss one, last year, but you know why. There was not one extra minute or ounce of emotional energy to deal with cookies that week.

Are you bringing your sock machine? I would love to see it.

Yes the cranker is coming. Hopefully soon there will be a complete pair finished. In all of the practice socks so far there have not been 2 that match exactly!! This thing is fun but definitely has a learning curve. I have some yarn here that has been rewound numerous times. Good thing I have a ball winder. It's been used alot!

Making rally socks now instead of t-shirts? Can't wait to see the Turkey Run socks.

Getting closer. In Marion, AR NW of Memphis at the KOA. Heading up 55 tomorrow and will likely stay in Cape Girardeau tomorrow nite and then move up to Effingham, IL Wed nite and to the rally on Thu.

Hey Al, Maybe you can stay for free at the sports complex we used in 2009!

I'll be looking forward to AIR-Midwest rally events once we move to Springfield in July. Maybe we can throw something together in August. Due to the type of AC I have in my new trailer, we will need a shaded area preferably.

Will likely stay at the CG where the Cape to Cairo Rally was. At least that's the plan at the moment but since most of my planning is done when I get up in the morning it is subject to change.

If I didn't have a test at 10 AM on Saturday I would have made it up for a day visit.

I need a fire and some aluminum.

As far as I know, we have the six of us who are signed up on the rally calendar plus Norma, plus Romaine, plus Brent & Renee. That's nine units. Not sure if Fred & Joan are coming to make ten.

Jim & Kaye are coming out for the potluck on Saturday, but without the trailer.
